The Conversation

The Conversation is an Academy Award nominated 1974 mystery thriller about audio surveillance, written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Teri Garr, and Cindy Williams; it also features an early performance by Harrison Ford and an uncredited appearance from Robert Duvall.

*******

Recently watched it. I was surprised to see Shirley from "Laverne & Shirley". I don't think I've ever seen her in a movie before. And Harrison Ford looked really really young.

Excellent movie, and very very slow. I'll probably watch it again someday and turn the subtitles on. Apparently there is a lot of stuff played on the tapes that you can't hear.

Interesting...

Subtitles!?!? Why didn't I think of that? Now I will have to sit through this again with subtitles.

IMO one of Gene Hackman's best films.

It is slow but it's deliberate and worth the time to watch.

The 70s is probably my favorite decade for film. A lot of good ones and a lot more that usually go unnamed when discussing them.

Did anybody have the success John Cazale did in his short life? Between this, Dog Day Afternoon, Deer Hunter, and the Godfather films he was very successful. And he was a major player in those films. The guy was even engaged to Meryl Streep.
