Dimension Films is Remaking Short Circuit

Dimension Films has acquired rights to remake the 1986 film, Short Circuit, reports Variety.

The original introduced Number 5, a robot built by the military to be a highly sophisticated weapon. It developed a conscience and a personality after being hit by lightning, and then needed the help of humans after it was targeted for destruction by its makers, once it became a peacenik.

S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, who created the characters and wrote both "Short Circuit" films, have been hired to write the remake.

David Foster and Ryan E. Heppe will produce with John Hyde.

One of the original models from the movie ended up in the Star Tours ride and Disneyland.

What a guilty pleasure the old movie was. This is one movie I hope that they never remade. It better not be crap.....

I'm a huge fan of the original one 2nd one was ok but nothing compared to the first, I just don't see how a remake of this movie is going to work if they don't use the original cast which they probally won't so i'll skip it

First one is a good movie.

The remake isnt dumb for one reason only and thats money. Its a kids movie most likely. It will rake in the money.
