Screw the Oscars
I don't care what these self-serving freaks think. At all.
The day I'm worried about what some actor / actress thinks about politics is the day I wake up with my head sewn to the (red) carpet.
Do any of these clowns even know how much a gallon of gas is? Or a gallon of milk?
Why the media insists on giving these pricks a forum is beyond me.

Dude, you have GOT to calm down. The media isn't "providing" them with a forum. The forum is already there--they're using the media to proclaim their views.
You don't have to agree with them, but it seems like you really pay attention to them because you just can't stop complaining about it.
As for the Oscars, I respectfully disagree with you. Hopefully, they'll keep the 45 second speech rule in effect, so we won't have to hear it too much.
But I have vested interest in the Oscars--seeing that I'm in the industry myself, so I will watch--there were some good movies made last year.

Are you actually trying to say that every news outlet in the country isn't dying to get celebrity political views on tv after / during the oscars because some idiots will accept their opinions as the truth without thinking for themselves? It's completely backwards.
The forum is provided for them to accept awards. Anything beyond that is pure self-serving hollywood promotional bull****.
I haven't watched the ocscars, academy awards, grammy's, or anything of the sort since I was about 12. But, it doesn't matter because everyone will be 'forced' to watch this drivel because it will be on every news station for the next two days. And what will they see? The best of Celebrity Political Views, as if they are somehow more important than anyone elses.
It's disgusting.

EXACTLY!!!! I am against any of these damn award ceremonies: Oscars, Emmys, Tonys, etc
These people are out of touch of reality & why should we worship them and pay them all this praise when they haven't worked a real day in their lives.
BOO HOO HOO..I'm overworked...I work 10 hours a day on location 6 days a week....the director has it in for me..BOO HOO HOO
SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE AND TAKE A REALITY DOSE!!!
Jorge and Paco work 19 hours a day, seven days a week trying to eke out enough $$$ to send to Juanita to help her cross the border.

This just in!
For an estimated $12 to $20 million apiece...
Brad Pitt will portray Jorge, Matt Damon will portray Paco, and Helena Bonham Carter will portray Juanita.

I'm sure they're all very concerned.
I'm glad they find the time to be chaffuered down from their mansions to bless us all with their valuable insight.
What I would give to leave a steaming pile of 'kiss my ass' on the Dixie Chicks' collective face.
Sean Penn needs a labotomy.

Is it true that Sheryl Crow's ego exploded and scattered debris for miles and miles?
What a disgrace.

I agree. Sean Penn is an idiot.
Let me clarify...
He is entitled to speak his mind, even if it comes off as anti-American. Even if we disagree with him.
But to then get peeved at losing a potential movie role over his comments, to the point of filing a lawsuit regarding it? That's idiotic.
You can speak your mind all you want...but you must live with the consequences of opening your mouth at times.
Any politician or celebrity who says anything against our invasion of Iraq comes off as siding with Saddam Hussein. People should watch what they say in a time of war. They might find themselves regretting it long after Saddam and his sons have been blasted from the face of the planet.

Who cares?
You guys constantly drill about how they shouldn't be paid attention to, but here we are, in yet ANOTHER thread complaining about them...
Sounds to me that they're at least doing half their job--getting people to listen to them.

Good point CHap.
And Brian, Equating anti-war stances with being pro-Iraq or pro Saddam is quite McCarthy-esque if you ask me. Because we're at war People are now held to different tandard than in times of no war? Horse pucky.

I didn't hear who it was, but on KTAR 620 today someone mentioned an article written by a very liberal writer in some American newspaper. The guy is known for his anti-Bush slant in his writing. He has been slamming the whole move towards a war with Iraq. However...he wrote in his most recent article "Once the fighting begins, I'm supporting the troops and hoping for a quick resolution."
Be against war all you want to be, but once our troops are in harm's way - support em!
Sean Penn and all these other windbags must have some other motives, if even to just get their name in the headlines, because they offer no alternatives to military action. They just smile and say "Give peace a chance."

Well, then, let them. They're free to leave the country anytime they want. Alec Baldwin actually said he was going to leave the country of his own free will. It's a shame he didn't.

I agree.
Alec looks like an idiot for coming out and taking such a strong stance and then doing NOTHING when things didn't go his way.
I remember someone else saying they were going to Moscow if GW won. GW won, then they went to Moscow, Indiana for a day or something. I guess Alec wasn't that clever...
