Rope

I just watched this. I read that Hitchcock had to take away some elements of the two main characters so their homosexuality wouldn't be as obvious. I guess back then, it still hadn't been addressed in films in the US.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies...so well done, the long 20 minute scenes with no break...just amazing.

Yeah, I think I read that the entire movie was done in just 9 takes.

Not one of my favorite Hitchcock films. I find the "continuous shot" format of the movie too gimmicky.

It's not one continuous shot, there are several hidden cuts throughout the movie.

Brilliantly done, though.

Absolutely brilliant. Yeah, I knew there were a few cuts, but not too many.

Yeah, I saw on TCM that they had to re-load the film every 20 mins. or so and if you are paying attention you can see the cuts.

I think it is a very good film, but personally I would rank it behind many of Hitchcock's other films like Shadow of a Doubt, Psycho, Rear Window and Rebecca among others.
