Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital Sunday, a spokesman confirmed to Reuters. He was was 71.
He was really a giant and cut through the crap like only a few others could. Sayonara, George.

Well, in truth I'm actually not a total hawk, but I'm not a dove either -- I'm more like an angry pigeon flying over the political arena after a really big meal. -Abba Gav
I can't help but wonder how he wants his services to be held. I think he'd have some pretty concrete ideas on the matter.
From his book Napalm and Silly Putty:
“When I die, I don’t want to be buried, but I don’t want to be cremated either. I want to be blown up. Put me on a pile of explosives and blow me up. Or throw my body from a helicopter. That would be fun. One stipulation: wherever I land, you have to leave me there. Even if it’s on the mayor’s lawn. Just let me lie there. But keep the dogs away.”

A comedian, a philosopher, and (at least in my mind) a leader of free thought.
Tragic, so sad. I read it this morning and was shocked...well, not that shocked since he was old and you could see his health failing in his last stand up special.
Just a great person, in my mind who didn't take the B.S. and spoke openly and freely to people. Always called people out on illogical nonsense, and challenged people to think about things just a little bit deeper than they normally do.
Thanks George. You will be missed.

Very sad. George was a very talented person. Besides being a comedian, he was not that bad an actor. I actually saw the movie Jersey Girl a few weeks ago and he was a pretty good actor. The movie was bad but he did a good job playing Ben Affleck's dad.
Only 4 of the 7 dirty words get blocked in the ASFN filter.
RIP.
13 if your a sailor.
