Newman Directing the Nerds Redo Source: The Hollywood Reporter
May 1, 2006
Kyle Newman has signed on to direct Fox Atomic's Revenge of the Nerds, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The film reteams Newman with screenwriter Adam F. Goldberg, who is rewriting the latest "Nerds" incarnation. The pair worked together on Newman's upcoming Fanboys, which will be distributed by The Weinstein Company.
McG and David Manpearl are producing the remake of the seminal teen comedy from 1984.

I'm getting tired of this crap. Eventually they will have destroyed every great movie and series. Hollywood has lost its creativity and now this lazy generation of writers, producers and directors will be the end of it all. I guess nothing is sacred anymore. Can't wait for the Caddyshack and Ghostbusters remakes

The fact that you call Revenge of the Nerds a "great movie and series" is precisely why they decide to remake it.
There's a certain bit of nostalgia with the movie (and I know every location for it since it was filmed at the UofA), but come on--it really was not a good movie.

It was when I was 8. Like you say, it is the nostalgia for me. I'm sure if I watched it now, I would not be so impressed.

Yeah, I lived in the dorm (Cochise) that they were thrown out of
Hey has anyone heard any new news on the casting for the remake of the Revenge of the Nerds which I think is a bad idea to do a remake of this film cause it was a perfect film for the 80's but if anyone has any new news on this film would greatly appreciate it thanks
i saw the movie poster.. lemme go find it and i will post it

Great '80's film! It was filmed at the UofA the year before I got there, so I love watching it and remembering what the campus used to look like before all the new construction, new Student Union etc.
