Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)

Dunno if anyone else has heard of this movie, but after waiting for what seems like a year, this movie is set to be released on Feb. 17. Hopefully it'll make it's way to PHX.

Night Watch is the highest grossing Russian movie of all time, and for those of you who like horror-fantasy movies this one looks really good - judging from the trailer.

Here is the website & trailer link - http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/nwnd/

Pheew... I honestly hope that no one will ever be able to see that piece of crap. This is one of the most ridiculous and boring movies I've seen, it sucks so much that it's almost funny.
The trailer looks decent though... best part of the movie.

Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)

Release Date: February 17, 2006 (limited)
Studio: Fox Searchlight Pictures
Director: Timur Bekmambetov
Screenwriter: Sergei Lukyanenko, Timour Bekmambetov
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Horror, Fantasy, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Thriller
MPAA Rating: R (for strong violence, disturbing images and language)
Website: Night Watch

Starring: Konstantin Khabensky, Vladimir Menshov, Maria Poroshina, Galina Tyunina, Victor Verzhbitsky, Dima Martynov

Plot Summary: Set in contemporary Moscow, "Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)" revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides. As night falls, the dark forces battle the super-human "Others" of the Night Watch, whose mission is to patrol and protect. But there is constant fear that an ancient prophecy will come true: that a powerful "Other" will rise up, be tempted by one of the sides, and tip the balance plunging the world into a renewed war between the dark and light, the results of which would be catastrophic.

"Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)" is the first installment of a trilogy based on the best-selling sci-fi novels of Sergei Lukyanenko entitled Night Watch, Day Watch and Dusk Watch. The film is the official Russian contender for Best Foreign Language Film for the 2005 Academy Awards.

Just watched it - it was a little wierd - kinda Matrix-like in some ways. Good story, but the production/direction shaky.

Wow, I have to disagree strongly with the bad sentiments against this movie...I thought it was outstanding. It's the highest grossing Russian movie ever, or was until the sequel came out. I can't remember the company, but a major US production company has already optioned the sequal and the third. I think the sequel is entitled Day Watch.

It was enjoyable - but I guess I just felt it could have been better

The sequels are Day Watch and Dusk Watch.

Wow, I can't believe this movie was already here

I watched this because I read the book first...was just recently translated into English from Russian. The rest of them aren't out yet, so kind of bummed.

Anyways, heard there was a movie too, I rented it...a bit crazy, wild, out there movie...far different from the book, but still interesting.

Pretty sure in the book, Egor is not his son.
