movie a day - #259: wet hot american summer
Quote:
Editorial Reviews Amazon.com
Tasty and nutrition-free as a snow cone on a hot summer day, Wet Hot American Summer is a silly, hilarious throwback to those mildly smutty early-'80s teen comedies. It takes place on the last day of Camp Firewood's 1981 season, and it's everyone's last chance for romance, self-realization, and of course the Big Talent show. The movie is filled with brilliant comic performances; it looks like the cast just took over a summer camp and had a great time. Writers Michael Showalter and David Wain have captured the essence of parody: absolutely nailing the conventions of their subject, kidding the hell out of it, and all the while showing a real fondness for the genre. People unfamiliar with Meatballs and its many imitators may well be left cold by Wet Hot American Summer, but anyone born between 1965 and 1980 will love it. --Ali Davis--This text refers to the Theatrical Release edition.
ok, sorry i missed a movie yesterday and didn't get to this till late today, but i thought next week was my week. anyway, this should make up for it, because it's one of the funniest movies of all time.

I.D. badges are long overdue. Security in this office park is a joke. Last year, I came to work with my spud gun in a duffel bag. I sat at my desk all day, with a rifle that shoots potatoes at 60 pounds per square inch. Can you imagine if I was deranged? - Dwight K. Schrute
then a day later I bought it at best buy when i went to buy my computer a power supply

the state, i think you mean. good stuff. also, if you haven't watched stella, you haven't lived.
Yeah. I thought I had typed that...guess not.
The State is a riot. I have one of the videos with various sketches they released a few years ago. I'm still anxiously awaiting a more complete DVD collection of episodes.
I'll check Stella out. Who did that one, these guys?

stella is michael showalter, david wain and michael ian black. wain and showalter wrote this movie, and wain directed it. they've been doing stand up together as stella for awhile, but comedy central just gave them a tv show. they had ten episodes which were comic gold, but it ended a couple of months ago. hopefully it will be picked up again for more seasons, but i don't think cc is replaying it much, if at all (but it replays that crap mind of mencia all the time). anyway, watch it if it's on, you won't be disappointed.
Does Paul Rudd wear Sex Panther in this movie? I'll rent this one...and I've only seen one episode of Stella but it was great. I love Michael Ian Black...he's very funny. The State was good and he's been on Reno 911 a couple of times too.
BTW, thirty-two...I can't help it if you can't control your ESOTSM addiction.
