Movie-A-Day #203: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
Synopsis:
Four Jack-the-lads find themselves heavily - seriously heavily - in debt to an East End hard man and his enforcers after a crooked card game. Overhearing their neighbours in the next flat plotting to hold up a group of out-of-their-depth drug growers, our heros decide to stitch up the robbers in turn. In a way the confusion really starts when a pair of antique double-barrelled shotguns go missing in a completely different scam.
Cast:
No one really is a "Star" in this one, I'm sure Chaplin can correct me there. However, Sting does play the father of one of the "lads" and is pretty good, albeit in a really tiny part.
Mike's Comments:
I am not sure how you describe this movie, or the next one I'll be doing tomorrow, but they are just good fun. Humor and violence all in one...along with thick, Irish accents, makes this just so appealing to me.
Situations unrelated to each other end up crashing together in violent, but also freaking hilarious ways.
When I first heard about this movie, I was like, egh....but then I watched it and was blown away. One of my favorites.

BTW: Dexter Fletcher was Baby Face in Bugsy Malone and Nicholas Rowe was Young Sherlock Holmes (Chris Columbus film).
The producer, Matthew Vaughn, was in it as a cameo - the yuppie pulled out of the car. He's married to Claudia Schiffer, with two kids, directed Layer Cake and just dropped out of doing X3.

The scene with the BB gun was one of the funniest I can remember.
I really like that one as well...how about when those guys bust in to steal it all, and out of nowhere that chick gets up off the couch and blows the guy away...
Chandler Mike's choice for movie of the day today was so good, I can't wait to see what he will choose tomorrow. I wish it was tomorrow so I would know. Maybe he will give us a hint of something.
