Movie-A-Day #200: Three O'Clock High

Three O'Clock High

Cast: Casey Siemaszko, Anne Ryan, Richard Tyson, Stacey Glick, Jonathan Wise, Jeffrey Tambor, Philip Baker Hall, Mitch Pileggi, etc.

Synopsis: A high school nerd, Jerry Mitchell is assigned to write a piece for the school paper about new boy Buddy Revell, who is rumored to be a psychopathic nutcase. When Jerry accidentally touches Buddy, he says that they must fight in the parking lot at 3pm. Jerry will just about do anything to avoid the confrontation.

Trivia:

Steven Spielberg was the executive producer, but he asked to have his name removed from the credits.

During Jerry's book report, he asks his English teacher, what is her favorite book. She replies, "Turn of the Screw," and then he kisses her. In Turn of the Screw, there is a part where a tutor is kissed by her student.

The music playing in the insect movie that Jerry watches in his biology class is the "Out to Sea" theme from Jaws (1975).

---------------------------------------

Had the involvement of people like Aaron Spelling, Steven Spielberg, and Barry Sonnenfeld. Soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

I still remember seeing this as a "sneak preview" back in the 80's. One of the underrated teen flicks of that time, in my opinion. Actually haven't seen it in quite some time, might have to watch it again soon.

I really like this movie. Siemaszco and Tyson are very funny. I agree that it is very underrated.
