Movie-A-Day #12: When Harry Met Sally
Okay, since I have the nickname "Chickflickski", or "Chickler", etc., I figured it was my duty to post a chick-flick.
But this is one of the best chick-flicks of all time I think.
(some spoilers below possibly, but come on, all chick-flicks end the same way )
A film by Rob Reiner, starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, this is a story of two people who meet over and over again, build a friendship and end up together in the end because they realize they've loved each other the whole time.
First off, the movie wouldn't be close to as good if Billy Crystal wasn't in it. He's hilarious and delivers lines with perfection. Early in the movie when he's talking about how men and women can't be friends is just awesome.
Meg Ryan I think made herself a name from this one, and she's a perfect fit to Crystal in this movie. She has her moments, of course the famous "orgasm" scene, and some others.
But just overall, I think it's a funny movie, but also a good story about how two people can meet and not realize that they should be together for a long time, and eventually end up that way. Maybe it means more to me because my wife and I sort of have a story like that. We met, dated, broke up a few times, and it wasn't for five years after we met that we finally got married.
I know some of you guys like chick flicks as much as you want to say you don't, and this is one of the best ones out there.
Mike

Did you know that the line "I'll have what she's having" after the orgasm scene was not originally in the script? It was ad-libbed and the powers-that-be decided to leave it in.
Good movie. Billy Crystal is great!

Yeah, I did know that...and wasn't that Crystal's real life mom who said it? Or maybe she was just in the scene?

This movie is pretty funny.
When I first saw it - way back when it first came out - I hated it, couldn't stand it because I didn't like Billy Crystal.
It took me awhile to become accustomed to his style of comedy - once I did though, this became my favorite movie of his. I love this movie - I bought it awhile back and watch it a couple of times a year - it's hilarious and it's got a good story.

Hate to admit it, but this movie is pretty good. I've seen it a few times and unlike other romantic comedies aka Chickflicks, this one doesn't bore me to tears. I really liked how they'd have interviews with couples at certain points in the movies. Meg Ryan used to be so hot.
So Mike, are you gonna do From Justin to Kelly at any point this week or what?

Rob Reiner's mother said that.
And the entire "orgasm scene" was Meg Ryan's idea.
Also, while there are actors recounting them, the married people's stories are real.
And although I've previously attempted to deny it...I like this chick flick.

The final seen with Crystal and Ryan was all ad lib as well, they just filmed them talking for awhile and picked the best stuff.
Pretty amazing.

As a "chick" I find the suggestion that the movie From Justin to Kelly qualifies as a chic flick insulting. No, no, no. Tween movie, yes. Chick flick, no.
Hey, we all have our standards.

This is a classic movie.
When they try to set their friends up with the other is great.
BTW: Wouldn't this be "Movie-A-Day #12" ?

Yeah, and Mikey was hoping no one would call him on it.
