Very good movie, but very difficult to watch. Charlize just looks so bad, it's incredible. But you can definitely believe the hype--she is as good as everyone says she is.

For the first 20 minutes, you find yourself telling yourself, "It's Charlize, it's Charlize," but then after that first 20 minutes you are totally pulled in and she becomes that character.

Christina Ricci is again solid in her offbeat role, but from what I've read/heard, her character is actually much more "butch" than Ricci was.

Recommended, but only if you can handle it.

I had started a thread on this a while back but it hadn't been released wide yet.

Great movie. Charlize Theron is absolutely incredible. Not only did they do a good job of making her look like a trashy prostitute, but she got the mannerisms and attitude down perfect! Tough movie just because of how brutally it explores the issues of sexual abuse but it's worth a viewing for sure.

All I can say is WOW!

If Charlize doesnt win an Oscar for this role then something is VERY wrong. She was absolutely incredible! Completely pulls you ino her role. It reallyis amazing how bad they made her look and how much weight she gained for the role.

Very ood movie overall and like Chapp said kudos to Christina Ricci as well!

saw this over the weekend on video DVD.


Theron was absolutely incredible. You guys were right - she had the white trash part nailed.

I don't remember Ricci being so good looking as she was in this film.

It's a disturbing story, but an incredible movie.

Finally saw this this past weekend. Theron was incredible - the way she'd flick her hair back & all her mannerisms - she must've gained 50 lbs for the part.

The other girl wasnt bad looking. What was she doing with the awful looking one? When they kissed I couldnt even enjoy the show of two women kissing.

Good damn movie. Charlize was looking buckled in this flick, but she did a hell of an acting job. I can't believe I slept on this movie for so long.

I just watched it. I agree with the posts above, Theron was excellent. Definitely deserved best actress.
