Metropolis

I just got this movie from the library. It’s another oldie, 1927. It is currently ranked #60 at IMDB.

Plot Summary

Genres: Action, Drama, Romance, Sci-Fi, Thriller
Tagline: There can be no understanding between the hands and the brain unless the heart acts as mediator.
Plot Synopsis: It is the future, and humans are divided into two groups: the thinkers, who make plans (but don't know how anything works), and the workers, who achieve goals (but don't have the vision). Completely separate, neither group is complete, but together they make a whole. One man from the "thinkers" dares visit the underground where the workers toil, and is astonished by what he sees...

Kudos to you for actually getting it. A brilliant, classic, stupendous film. Very imaginative.

I just watched it. Wow, it’s weird watching an eighty year-old movie. Unfortunately 25% of the film has been lost. This is a great movie to watch if you’re into film history. According to Wikipedia, the cost of making the film would be $200 million in today’s dollars. It is said that this movie influenced such movies as Blade Runner, Dark City, Star Wars, and The Matrix.
