Nominations for the 81st Academy Awards® were announced on Tuesday morning by by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis and Oscar-winning actor and Academy member Forest Whitaker.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2008 will be presented on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

completely agree. If Slumdog doesn't win out of that bunch of movies, something's very, very wrong with the Academy... even more so than usual.

Oh, and The Dark Knight not being nominated for Best Picture/Director/Screenplay over The Reader is a joke IMO. But I guess it just goes to prove Ricky Gervais' holocaust/nazi theory is alive and well.
