Should I trade out of the #2 spot in my draft?

To number 8? Sorry I am bored. I wish the season would hurry up and get here.

Definitely, trade back to #8. Depth is always a major factor in Fantasy football. What if you stay at #2, draft Tomlinson and he blows his knee out? Take #8 and get RB's with your first 2 draft picks. I've been in a league for 8 years and no one drafting higher than No.4 has won the Superbowl. The 2 years I have won; my draft position was No.8 and No.10. I'm always looking to drop back. I would much rather have the #8, #13 picks than the #2, #19. You're getting much better value. I would move back even if I didn't get additional picks, that's just gravy.

The last 4 years the superbowl winner picked in the top 5. Last year the guy was at #5 took LT. The previous 3 years the guys were picking 1 and 2.

Yeah, Sack Daddy's past history is kind of against the norm I would think...mostly in my leagues, the guy who got the 1st pick, took Faulk, usually went far in the playoffs.

If drafting in the top 3 is a slam dunk in Fantasy football, why in the World post a thread asking, "Should I trade out of the N0#2 spot in my draft ?". If past history in your guys' leagues is that teams in the top 3 always make the playoffs, everyone drafting 7-10 might as well not turn in a lineup on Sunday. People screw up their picks at the top of the draft all the time. Case in point; Priest Holmes was a late 1st-early 2nd round pick in about 99% of Fantasy drafts, Marshall Faulk was the No.1 pick in many, who was the better value? I belong to 3 different leagues and in each league about 50% of the owners are clueless and they always screw up their draft. One pick won't win you a Superbowl. It's those middle round picks and the depth you build (for injuries or making trades) that get you to the playoffs. It's always worked for me.

Reason being is that this year there is no "Sure Thing" like with Faulk in the past. Up till 5 years ago no one who drafted #1 ever won the SB now 4 years in a row the high guys won. I am just thinking 8 might be too far to drop.

Exactly...if Holmes was completely healthy this year, he'd be the undisputed #1 pick, and that team would likely end up in the playoffs.

But there is no clear cut this year, still, some pretty good RB's are there...Portis puts up some big time numbers.

I understand what you guys are saying, but there is NO sure thing in Fantasy football. Particularly, when it comes to RB's. History shows that RB stats, especially TD's, fluctuate greatly from year to year. When a guy does drop off or get injured, no one sees it coming. That's why you have to cover yourself with 2 stud RB's if you can swing it. The guy in my league who had Priest Holmes last year was kicking the sh*t out of everyone and looked like a lock to win the Superbowl. Right up until the time Priest got hurt and he was promptly blown out of the playoffs by the #6 seed. If you use a snake draft and I'll assume you do, you can get 2 nice RB's at the #8,#13 slots. At the #2,#19 you will have a crack at the top 1-2 RB's and at #19 you will get a guy with alot of questions. If that guy at #2 stays healthy all year (that's asking alot) it may be enough to carry you. If not, that guy at #19 will have to carry your team. In my league, everyone loads up at RB and by the time #19 rolls around, 14-15 RB's will be off the board. Last year, most publications had Ahman Green as a top 3 pick. I had the No.3 pick and guess who I selected? I had the chance to trade down and I didn't. Every other year I used the strategy of drafting #6-#10 and made the playoffs every year but one and that was because of a rash of key injuries. Just for fun, if you stay at number 2, let me know who you draft and we'll see how it plays out.

So I am in a 14 team league which makes things a little worse. The big diff is we get 1 pt per reception so RB's like Priest, Faulk, LT, and Williams are head and shoulders above the rest because they are receiving backs. The only others I can really think of are Ahman and Deuce then there is a really big drop off. I don't think any of them will be there at 8. I know the trading up is going to take Vick... so there is the possiblity.

The guy who nabbed Priest last year was kicking everyones butt too he Had Priest, Deuce, and Davis.

The guy who won had LT and Tiki along with Brooks and Driver.

Would I trade

Out of the #2 pick? No I would not.

You will get LT or Ricky Williams.

If you were the #3 pick I would consider it.

Of course, what are they offering for the #2 pick? You figure at #8 you are looking at someone like Ahman Green or Marvin Harrison.

I expect most drafts to pan out like this:

Ricky Williams
LT
Portis
Faulk
Holmes (injury can raise or lower)
McAllister
Alexander

Well I know the guy wanting to trade into #2 is going to take Vick.
