AZCentral is reporting that the Phoenix Suns finally have head coach after a long and detailed interview process.
Former lead assistant in Detroit, Terry Porter joins the Suns squad and brings two seasons of head coaching experience.
Steve Kerr made the decision Saturday and had this to say about Porter:
"He's a great leader," said Kerr, who was his San Antonio teammate for the final two years of Porter's 17-year career. "He's very tough-minded, confident yet humble, in a way that I think players will respect. He's a really good communicator."

In the short time since acquiring Shaq this team is almost unrecognizable. If not for the continued success at fast break points I wouldn't know who they are. It's almost hard to believe that one such player can have an impact not only on the court but on the psyche of this team. It's incredible. Amare anyone? Amare right now is playing like a NBA MVP. Amare is averaging over 30 points per game and over 10 rebounds since the trade. He has now moved up to being the 6th highest scorer in the NBA. In my opinion, it proves that Amare was being held back in his progress by playing out of position all this time. In the past 2 games the Suns have out rebounded the Lakers 46 to 33 and the Celtics 50-32. That's 96 to 65 in the past 2 games against great teams. When is the last time you have seen that from a Suns team? We have had 28 offensive rebounds in 2 games. That is 28 second chance opportunities for a team that is still an offensive force. If this keeps up, this might be the biggest rebounding turnaround in NBA history. From one of the worst to one of the best by seasons end. |

Guest Blogger: Old Dirt McGirt When he first took the Suns job, Mike D'Antoni was heralded as an offensive genius who was destined to save the NBA from plodding defensive half court basketball and finally lead the Suns to their first NBA title. However, as the seasons progressed, it seems as if we find different and more excruciating ways to lose. While some can be passed off as freak occurrences, it is hard to blame three seasons of ultimate futility on the powers of fate. Although this season is still young, there have been some frightening trends that Suns fans are all two familiar with. A lack of execution when Steve Nash is out, two many minutes for our starters, spotty defensive rotations, and a neglect of taking care of business on the boards. |

It wasn't until Steve Nash went on a mini scoring rampage that the Phoenix Suns actually took the lead for good against the Miami Heat. Nash scored 11 straight points, including two threes and a barrage of drives and jumpers to go up 98-93 with only five minutes left in the game. Up until then, they hadn't led since early in the first quarter where they gave up 37 points to Miami. Miami, a team that came into the game 0-4 and scoring the least of anyone in the league, put up a 37-spot on Phoenix in the first quarter. If nothing else, we certainly make other squads look better sometimes. Suns win 106-101. |

Props to the Phoenix media. I mean, seriously...props to you. David Stern came to town to announce that Phoenix won the 2009 NBA All-Star game and instead of treating him nice and staying on topic, the local personalities took no prisoners and grilled Stern in their first chance to see him since the suspensions of Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw. And Stern did nothing to help his image here. |

Whatever happened at halftime of the games in which Phoenix beat the Cleveland Cavaliers is still going strong. The Suns blew out the Charlotte Bobcats Tuesday night 115-83, giving them their second straight victory and improves their record to 3-1. I also want to thank the wonderful Suns organization for stepping up to make their entire season available in high-definition. I have to admit I was worried about channel 45 stepping up to make this feed available to us, but they did and it was awesome. |

Fox Sports Net Arizona just reported that Amare Stoudemire wont play tonight due to a sore knee, the same one that he had the arthroscopic surgery on in October. This cannot be a good thing and of course the idea of another microfracture surgery being needed is running through all our heads. Not a great weekend for Arizona sports in general, and now it just gets worse. |

lam·baste (lm-bst) tr.v. lam·bast·ed, lam·bast·ing, lam·bastes Informal 1. To give a thrashing to; beat. See Synonyms at beat. Yup, that sums it up. I hope I never have to witness that again. A 119-98 thumping. How do you possibly let things get so out of control that you are down 30+ to the L.A. Lakers in your season home opener? While the San Antonio Spurs have come out of the gates 2-0 and played exactly how everything knows they can, the Suns are lucky to have a win under their belts. Someone ought to wake up them and alert Mike D'Antoni that preseason is over |

Yes, the Phoenix Suns won and that's great. But if I have to go all season banging my head against the wall watching us get owned on the defensive glass, I'll go crazy. Regardless, it was a good win for the Suns, who started off completely out of sorts, turning the ball over, looking rusty, awkward and generally unsure of themselves. Thankfully, they rebounded to beat the Seattle Supersonics, 106-95 106-99. |

It's time. Again. The Phoenix Suns hit the floor tonight against the Seattle Supersonics and kick off another run at the NBA title. There are so many questions this year. Can Grant Hill stay healthy? Can Amare Stoudemire stay healthy? Can everyone stay healthy? The team has been great at avoiding big time injuries lately, so I think they are fine there. But the year has already started out with Raja Bell held out of practice on Tuesday, Leandro Barbosa with rib troubles, Hill with slight back spasms and Boris Diaw with a couple of sprained ankles. Hopefully it's all out of their system now, and we can focus on the getting home court advantage in the playoffs. |
