The more I listen to Steve Wilks (Panthers DC), I think MB&SK will be very impressed. His 43 defense fits the Cardinals' current personnel. Would be very curious to know who his OC would be.

In terms of passion, energy and articulation, the most impressive candidates, imo, are John DeFilippo and Steve Wilks.

He has been the assistant head coach for the past 3 years. His resume doesn't scream "hot coordinator"(which is fine with me) but his presence and resume seem to fit "leader of men". Your hoping he becomes the next Mike Tomlin.

That is a problem. Large pool of castoffs and newbies to choose from. Not ideal.

Everything I've heard on national radio says switching back to a 43 would be very expensive and a 2-3 year process to get all the right peices in place

    Munchak+Caldwell+Bettcher sounds intriguing to me

Bettcher doesn't have the gravitas to coach up Peterson and Mathieu. His defenses do not adjust well at half-time and they quickly surrender leads. He does a good job selling out for the run, but always leaves contain wide open. His zone coverages have been soft and readily beatable. He was getting a good 4 man rush. Just not enough consistency and discipline to warrant a return as DC.

Munch and Caldwell could be a formidable pair on offense. I agree.

Adjustment is something that bothers me as well. But I think Bettcher has scope to grow. What he has done in first 3 years as DC is impressive trying to fill in Bowles's shoes. I am reluctant to lose guys who have upside like Bettcher.

I watched how Stafford struggled with Caldwell prior to JBC...not a ringing endorsement as an OC IMO. Also, Mike McCoy is not good.

Yea, I don’t understand McCoy love-fest at all.

Aren't you really talking about just a couple of franchises? If you're not Cleveland, San Franciso, or Chicago, you're screening out most of the problem. Mike Singletary was a head coach 7 years ago. Joe Philbin had one less season in Miami than Arians had here.

I don't know. I think you could do worse than a base defense of:

    RDE - Chandler Jones
    DT - Olsen Pierre
    DT - Corey Peters
    LDE - Kareem Martin
    ILB - Deone Bucannon
    ILB - Haason Reddick
    DB - Patrick Peterson
    DB - [Placeholder]
    DB - Tyrann Mathieu
    S - Budda Baker
    S - Antione Bethea

You also have a good amount of backups/depth. As long as you have a pass rusher and a top-shelf cornerback in place, you're in a good spot regardless of system.

    Everyone runs a base nickel.

Yup. At 255 lbs Markus Golden is a run-down OLB and maybe a defensive end in a rush/speed package. He's the guy who'd get hurt the most in a transition to a 4-3 defense, but I'm not gonna sweat it too much.

We need our version of Pete Carroll. Say what you want about the guy, but his innovation and unique ways completely turned that Seahawks team around, their culture was flipped on its head for the better... we need someone like this. Idk if that’s an OC somewhere or a ncaa head coach, idk, but that guy is out there somewhere
