We here in the Valley have been blessed over recent years to not only have excellent athletes but excellent human beings as the stars and leaders of our franchises. Luis Gonzalez, Steve Nash, Kurt Warner, and Shane Doan were all remarkable people and community heroes.

People will be shocked and angered at the end of the Doan era. I'm sad to see it end, but I think the team has already kept him around a few years out of respect and as a mentor to the young guys. The team is now in the middle of a full blown youth movement and having him around didn't make much sense for the future. How many team captains are on the 4th line?

Love you Doan. I wish it could have ended here with a Cup in hand for you.

Yup. said this in the Smith thread. Barroway is doing just what Colangelo did with the Suns before selling. Reduce expenses to get as much profit from a sale and trim the bottom line, or reduce moving expenses caused by relocation fee.

With a budget team, you can understand getting rid of Smitty. That salary could be multiple players.

This is just a slap in the face to any Coyote fan. He's basically the owner from Major League right now

Coyotes select a seat event this weekend. I bet they will be packing them in after this last weekend.

The Coyotes really screwed this up if they have any intention of staying in the Valley. They could have explored transitioning Doan to another role in the organization. They could have offered a final farewell year at a reduced contract. Doan might not have been interested in either, but the breakup in public suggests the team wasn't either.

I'm old enough that the Coyotes were not my childhood team, but I always supported them. I think that's done. No offense intended to fans who stick around maybe even to the bitter end - I've been there too, and respect it.
