Good to hear he's not a thug. Looking forward to seeing him in action. Be like Mike (dome).

Just think. If Payton gets a haircut, he may become a star.
Whattya know? An article that is a complete waste of time and comes to no conclusion!
Apparently Payton is best friends with TJ Warren. The Suns posted this video on their Facebook page...
Nice endorsement by Warren. They are represented by the same agency as well.
Hopefully, if Payton fulfills his role of stepping in as lead Point Guard, tall as well, and becomes the facilitator and defender we need, his friendship with Warren will be motivation for him to want to stay with the Suns.
We'll pretty well be set at the 1 - 2 - 3 and, above all, let DBook return to his natural position (and calling as lead scorer) and, hopefully, be less prone to injury. Now we just need a solid Power Forward and a solid Center, each at least a few years into their careers and having shown progress. And a serviceable bench not made up of disappointments or past their prime.
Getting Payton was a key move for many reasons. Let's hope that McDonough has developed some above average GM skills to take us to the next step.
And that we have a management team more interested in letting it develop than relying on gimmicks, all of which have not worked.
How ironic would it be the Suns solved their PG woes long term by sending a second round pick to the Magic.
It was a chance well worth taking. Of course, only time will tell.
Hope he turns out better than the last Magic pg we got!
On Arizona Sports (98.7) Ryan Mcdonough gives his thoughts on Elfrid Payton and the Suns intent being aggressive this summer.
McDonough indicates the Suns timeline is this summer and the Suns will be a buyer.
He feels the players on the team are competitive but need to grow up.
Interestingly, he says the Suns will continue to seek to improve their team through April.
His interview is at the link below.
That's basically saying that they're going to look at whoever gets bought out after the dust settles from the trade deadline. Most players that are bought out are going to be looking to sign with a playoff contender though. Of course not all of them will be able to and the Suns will be able to offer up a little more money since they have some cap space available. If there are any Centers or Point Guards out there they'd be able to offer playing time as well. I'd be surprised if they signed anyone beyond this season but they can audition some players to see how they fit before committing to a larger contract. The G-League season also ends about 2 weeks before the NBA season and they might call someone up from there like they did with Elijah Millsap and Jarell Eddie last season.
Please remind me. Who was the last Magic PG we got? It wasn't Tragic or Bledsoe or Knight or Thomas or James or Ulis or Canaan or Gray. Whom did I miss?
Man, we go through Point Guards (sometimes three at a time), including the PGINO's -- Point Guards in name only (because they were too small or not good enough shooters to play or defend Shooting Guards).
Ish Smith played for the Magic before signing with us a few years ago. I think @SweetD is referring to Penny though.
Ah, yes. Thank you. Anfernee goes back awhile.
Here is the video of the press conference for Payton.
