what happen to him last season? he took less ABs and threw less innings than any previous year. He regressed in each as well. his power went away too.
when Eric Thames was in the KBO he slashed .349/.451/.721 (OPS of 1.172, lol) and he put up numbers no where near that when he came back to the MLB.
I'll gladly watch Otani from afar, don't want that crazy contract on my time for a guy who almost seems like a novelty at this point.
Shohei Ohtani reportedly wants formal proposal from teams on how they'll use him

plan is for ohtani to be posted friday. interested teams must commit to paying the nippon ham fighters 20M. ohtani hasn't been about the $ but the teams with the most international $ to spend are tex (3.53M), nyy (3.5M), minn (3M), pitts (2M) and sfg (1.8M).
He’ll go to an AL team where he can DH on the days he isn’t pitching.
meh... i don't see that happening. he'll get here and quickly realize that the talent level is so much higher, and will decide to focus on one. just guessing here.
Perhaps but he has to get here first. Right now, all reports are that he wants to do both. The AL is perfect for that.

Ohtani may be limited to $3.5 million signing bonus, but marketing agents believe he will become #MLB's highest-paid player off the field, earning in excess of $20 million annually
Source: #Reds have submitted a formal reply to the Shohei Ohtani questionnaire, along with other recruitment materials, and are pursuing the Japanese star. @ctrent reported yesterday that GM Dick Williams says team has “serious interest” in Ohtani. @MLB @MLBNetwork
they're already wasting the Ted Williams of our generation, why not Ohtani too
Shohei Ohtani development: Multiple @MLB team execs believe Ohtani may actually prefer to sign with a club that doesn’t already have a Japanese star; Ohtani’s camp has not commented on that. @MLBNetwork
Brandon Laird, Ohtani’s teammate in Japan, gave credence to that idea, saying, “I feel like he just wants to come and not be compared to other guys who have already been here — to start fresh on his own, show what he can do by himself.” @MLB
mariners big/main goal is to sign ohtani. same as many, many teams. it's said to be bordering on "obsession" for some of these teams. hard to blame them. really. $300M player for pennies is a worthwhile endeavor
