Could someone tell me how to do something please?

How do you post a link without actually having the link itself appear?

Say I'm posting an article from www.cnn.com, how can I give it a different name and make it appear in a post as something like.. CNN or LINK.

    Do you mean like THIS?

What you do is type an open bracket, then "url=" (without the quotes) and then paste in the web address you want (ie, www.cnn.com), then you type in your closing bracket, type the words you want to actually appear in your post (in my case, "THIS?", again, without quotes), and then type in [/url]

I'll write it out using < and > instead of [ and ] (hope that makes sense)

    <url=https://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/60303036.jpg>THIS?</url>

use this button in the image below, it is above the plus sign to use quotes. you highlight a word, click that button, paste the URL in and it does the rest for you.
