I love that Goldschmidt is batting 2nd. Some of that "analytics" stuff going on I'd assume.
wasn't much of that going on when he was hitting under .200 and left in the 3 hole for 2 months though
got hot at the right time too. dodgers are 8-2 over their last 10, as are we. giants are right there too. what in the world is going on in denver
SP, and Bullpen have been woeful.
IIRC they spent a lot of money on the bull pen and now it is a weakness on the team.
What do you mean?
he was hitting .209 in march/april/may and left in the 3 hole the entire time. when lovullo finally moved him down in the order he moved him all the way down to 4th, where he was even worse. i doubt any analytics gave reason for him to be batting that high. he finally turned it around, but you have to wonder how many games were lost due to his offensive black hole in the heart of the order
Oh that's an easy answer. It's "6-8" games.
Yeah I have no idea what information Lovullo or the FO are using regarding Goldschmidt's spot in the order, but hitting him 2nd is the best spot to put him in analytically, especially during his hot streak.
Day game Wednesday. Jay, leading off, reaches first. Peralta, batting cleanup today, with a 2-run HR.
Good way to start the game.
And Greinke promptly gives up two hits and a walk...
First 5 batters reached for Pittsburgh - runners on 2 and 3, 1 out
Greinke gives up 4 runs in the 4th.
