We need a new D co-ord, with new D coaches who can teach these guys how to play zone... because they don't have a clue. If we can get the next PP to play opposite him, we probably don't need to do that... just stay in man every play and blitz with your extra 1 or 2, every play. But, really, they are Pros... someone needs to teach them zone.

meanwhile, has anyone noticed (for azsouthendzone) ?
Fitzgerald seems to be having issues with his hands on catches lately ?
    D. Johnson was hurt AGAIN. Was the magic year all he had ? is that over ?
Chandler Jones probably hit his top, trade time ? while he is worth something ?
and finally, Buddha Baker appears to be a bust (at least Doug Baldwin likes him).

lol... appreciate the condolances...but I dont trip...its all step sisters and such.... my fat ass is 360 lbs and the doctors always try and accuse me of being diabetic...really frustrates the hell out of them when my tests come back good.

I tease most of them.... call my nephew Eric "Stumpy"... because thats what he has to look forward to if he dont lay off the damned honey buns and mountain dew...he gonna be just like his momma...cant call him wheels because I already call her that,..so he got Stumpy

some folks have diabetes so bad they can barely manage it day to day... my "step" side of the family would live perfectly healthy lives if they just took care of themselves...cant waste sympathy on those who bring on their own hardships,lol...like me being fat...it aint the worlds fault and I am the only one who can fix it

Unless he reaches 40+ ints for his career I doubt he gets in. Stats matter! At his pace he’s not gonna make those numbers.

And imo Mitch is right, the guy is soft as the pillsbury doughboy lol

He’s a waste of returns, a liability in tackling, constantly bitches about PIs & throwing his hands in the air in blown zone coverages. I thinks he’s very good but nowhere great because of those reasons.

He is more likely to be a first ballot HoFer than not get in at all. INTs are mostly irrelevant because no one ever throws in his direction. The stats he’ll be measured on are more advanced stats, such as yards allowed per coverage snap, etc.

You don’t have to be John Madden to realize that Peterson is an elite CB.

Nobody threw AW way either and he still amassed over 50+ Ints and 13 Defensive TDs... He was definitely a better CB than Patrick Peterson and it took him like 4 or 5 tries to get in... First ballot is definitely laughable

I think it depends if we’re good again. What hurt Aeneas more than anything was the fact that he was sooooo far off the radar for almost ever on the Cards. The Cards success during PP’s prime will help him get to the HOF faster if we stay at that level.

If we fall off the face of the earth, so will PP’s rep a bit.

As for the “no one throws at PP and that’s why his pick numbers are low” argument... that is pure stupidity because it assumes that teams routinely threw at Aeneas, Deion, Darryl Greene, Bailey... all of whom have better pick numbers.

Part of being an all-timer at CB isn’t just shutting guys down, it’s about making big plays. Those guys baited QBs into making mistakes, getting turnovers while also shutting guys down. That’s one thing coverage wise I expected more from PP where he doesn’t measure up to the legends at the position.

It's funny that pretty much everyone league wide including WR's will tell you he's the best if not one of the best in the world.

Ask a Cardinals fan? "DUDE SUCKS!!!"

Saying he doesn’t deserve a golden shrine to be worshipped 24/7 isn’t the same as saying HE SUCKS!!!

But it’s easier to argue in black and white terms.

No I'm not talking semantics I'm talking the people in game day threads and other haters who literally say; "he sucks" lol There's a lot of them.

It's just always been a bit of a conundrum to me that league wide Peterson is respected and lauded,,,, yet Cardinal fans are so overly critical of him on a yearly basis. If one read nothing about him except what is on this board, you'd think he was terrible.

What’s laughable is some believing that Peterson won’t get into the HoF. Never said he was first ballot, just that that scenario is more likely than not getting a gold jacket at all.

I don’t argue that Aeneas Williams was better, but those who base Peterson’s game on interceptions as a reliable measurement of his career are misguided. The hallmark of Peterson’s abilities is to lock up the other player’s best receiver all game long and make him virtually useless. This is like a great left tackle nullifying the contributions of a great pass rusher. By measuring Peterson using interceptions, you’re also arguing that Tramon Williams was the better corner because he amassed more. He also has more opportunities to pick passes off, largely because Peterson was being targeted at like 3-4 times per game.

I can accept criticism of him not being physical enough, but the lengths that people are going to criticize Peterson is lunacy.

    Agreed, I would too.

But, Aeneas Williams is retired, and if the only player Peterson can be judged against is Williams, then I say that means Peterson is pretty damn good. I have said before, if I get to choose any player, from any time, to be on my team ? My cornerbacks are Rod Woodson, and Charles Woodson. Patrick Peterson is a great cornerback of his time, and generation, but I feel that it is a convenient truth that many having this constant discussion about Peterson, where the argument flip-flops from comparing Peterson to the current league players, to the all-time players.

Currently ? One of the best in the game.

All-Time ? Going to be a Hall of Famer, but he is not even top 10 all time.

As for the argument about Peterson, in my opinion, the difference is reality versus idealism.

The talk about trading or getting rid of Patrick Peterson is: 1. Unneeded, 2. Unrealistic.

    1. His value on this team heavily out weighs his flaws. I can understand if you are reading this board once a day, the constant, unending complaints about Peterson and the fine tooth combing of every step he takes on the field can start to skew a person's opinion. Its kind of like how the media makes people believe the worse about anything but that is because they are taking a vast minority of a situation, finding the worst possible example of it, and parading it around like it is the norm. That is how I am seeing this discussion about Peterson on this board, so hence the tone of "annoyance" in regards to this ongoing argument.

Peterson has his weak points, like any player in the NFL throughout history. You give me a Hall of Famer, and I will find something to complain about that he didn't do well as a player. Peterson is being held to the standard of, what I would say is an all 99 rating in a Madden football game, that is unrealistic. Meaning if there is ANYTHING Peterson doesn't do well, it is paraded around here, and borderline celebrated. There are days where I feel people are happy to find something to complain about Peterson with.

In the end, it is unneeded. There is no other player besides, maybe the quarterback playing at the time, for the Cardinals that gets the scrutiny at the level Peterson does. The expectations are beyond perfection. Even if he does make a tackle, the tackle "isn't good enough", he can shut down a player for an entire game, and have one completed pass on him, and that pass is going to analyzed for rest of the week, without mention of the other 50 plays he locked his assignment down for.

As for the ridiculous assumption based on how he acts on the field ? I won't even go there. That is just speculation, through the eyes of the beholder, and the beholder is usually a hater looking for anything to complain about the guy with.

And then there is his salary. He is paid well. Is Josh Norman, Jimmy Smith, or AJ Bouye held to a standard greater than Peterson ? Sure hope so. Heck, Tyrann Mathieu isn't even held to the Peterson level.

    2. The reason all this talk about Peterson is unrealistic nonsense. The Cardinals would have to be FOOLS to trade him, since they would not get anything close to his value in return. Comparing Peterson to every cornerback who ever played the game is fine, but the realization is ANEAS WILLIAMS IS RETIRED. HE AIN'T WALKING THROW THOSE DOORS! The funny thing is Peterson is being compared to Hall of Famers because those are the only players that are in his skill range to compare him to, but in the same breathe Peterson sucks. Good enough to be compared to Hall of Famers, but in the same breathe not even worth his current salary.

At this point, it feels people are stretching and searching for whatever reason they can to bash the guy. At that point, the effort it takes, and the time spent to make their argument, just proves that Peterson holds up as one of, if not the best, cornerbacks in the league today, since it takes a great effort to find something to complain about, and even more of an effort to defend that stance.

Idealism comes in, when people say, "Well you can trade Peterson for X, Y, and Z. X will play better than Peterson, Y will be a draft pick that is our next QBOF who will be a future Hall of Famer, and Z will be some asset that will 100% work out". .........and the next time I fart it will smell of roses that will be bottled for perfume. I would like that to happen, but the chances of it happening ? 0.0%

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I get it, there are some good discussions and arguments against. But, lately, it has become a little boy cries wolf in my opinion. Its every week with this argument, and the complaints are become more specific, and percentage wise, 90% of the talk about Patrick Peterson is a negative comment about 5% or less of his plays.

Of course, its a public board, continue to talk about, I am not trying to squelch any discussion. Yet, to throw in comments here and there, I will continue to be cranky about it and yell for the kids to get off my lawn.

In the end, Peterson is not going anywhere and will be a face of this franchise whether he is liked or not.

There is a good reason for it.

There is a good reason why most of the talk on this board is critical of just about any Cardinals player. The only reason Chandler Jones is no longer getting beat up is because he literally has left no holes in his game the last few weeks. So, all those "Chandler Jones sucks" opinion changed with the wind. It will change back to him sucking if he doesn't have a sack in three games, I assure you.

At cornerback ? Forget it, there is no way for a cornerback to have a perfect game in the NFL, and even if they did, there would be a complaint about a tackle not being good enough, or calling for a fair catch with 3 guys standing around him when he catches it, etc., etc.

It is what it is. Its a message board, and it is 100% opinion, no matter how fancy the talk is behind it. Gotta let people vent, and everyone gets to throw their opinion out there. Granted those opinions are free for retort, and comment back, but if you dare swim against the current, there will be logs floating towards you so to speak. LOL!

It's not what he does it's what he doesn't do and that he thinks it's ok.
It seems like it has rubbed off onto honey. Don't get mixed up in piles. Save your body. Just watch budda do it..

He needs to be challenged more by coaches and players.
