Yes. Plenty do but this guy was allegedly deported 3 times before this and still came back and now took a life meaning this tragedy could have been prevented.

Too soon to politicize this tragedy

Normally I agree Jon, but if one side immediately talks about gun control as soon as there is a mass shooting, then the other side has every right to bring up immigration reform at times like this. It has to be allowed both ways, no matter your position.

I just wish all of these things could end up on productive talks and changes, rather than divisive hate and distrust of the opposition.

    Political rant over...

There is a forum for politics and this is not it.

I think someone who even mentions/tries to talk about it should be up for a ban from the mods, at least for a week or two.

Why? It is part of the story whether you like it or not.

NFL player did the right thing. That should be highlighted. Nice to see someone who goes out and has fun then gets a ride home.

NFL Player unfortunately lost his life because he was hit by a drunk driver that is in America illegally. If he wasn't here then Edwin Jackson would be alive. All part of the story. A sad story.

Ban away then stick your head in the sand.

Nothing happens in a vacuum. It hard to discuss a story like this without crossing lines.

If you can't handle discussing the fact that this man who killed two people was possibly here in the country illegally, then don't join the discussion. If discussing facts makes you uncomfortable then you should evaluate why that is. I am not here to make a political statement, just to say that facts are not political statements - they are just facts.

Colts' Edwin Jackson killed by driver illegally in U.S.

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-jackson-indianapolis-colts-country-illegally

INDIANAPOLIS -- The suspected drunken driver accused of hitting and killing Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson has been living in the country illegally and did not have a driver's license, the Indiana State Police announced Monday.

The driver of the truck that killed Jackson and ride-sharing operator Jeffrey Monroe had been using the alias Alex Cabrera Gonsales, the police said in a release. Gonsales' given name is Manuel Orrego-Savala, and he is a citizen of Guatemala. Orrego-Savala had been deported in 2007 and 2009.

Orrego-Savala, 37, was arrested after trying to flee the scene on foot, according to the Indiana State Police. Orrego-Savala was intoxicated, according to police. He is being held in the Marion County (Indiana) jail while the police work with U.S. federal immigration officials. Investigators are also working with the prosecutor's office to file criminal charges.

A probable cause affidavit filed Sunday in Marion Superior Court states that a breath test administered at the scene found Orrego-Savala's blood-alcohol content was 0.239 percent. Indiana's legal limit is 0.08 percent. Two vials of blood were later drawn from Orrego-Savala for testing.

    ----------------------------------------

Forget for just a minute that he shouldn't even have been in the country. He drove without a license. He drove drunk. He killed two men. He tried to flee the scene. He lied about who he was.

Horrible, just horrible. Hope he gets the death penalty.

RIP to both of the men he killed - Edwin Jackson and Jeffrey Monroe.

That discussion should come in a P&R thread, instead of just remembering Poundcake.
