Mike Tomlin is BY FAR the most overrated coach in the league

Hes the new media darling coach and is getting a ton of attention because of the steelers history of coaching and what not..

He hasn't changed anything in Pittsburgh..

The Rooneys kept members of Cowhers staff so they could run the team..

Theres a reason Tomlins headset isn't ever on. I doubt this clown even calls any plays.

Watching his interviews he comes of as a very intelligent well orginized person. The players seem to respect him.

I don't think I necessarily agree with all of this but he really did inherit everything he needed to go far in the playoffs.

    Media darling.

    Like bob sanders..

You could put Dave Mac behind that staff and they would still be successful.

Tomlin has been smart enough to not screw-up a good thing. Not every coach will do that... ;)

i dont agree with the title of the thread--

I do think there are legitimate questions on just how much he has to do with the teams success given what he inherited --

but Wade Wilson [edit: Phillips] also inherited an awful lot -- and it apparent that he hasnt done such a good job. (although in fairness --- Wilson is undercut by Jones regularly, while Tomlin never has to worry about that in Pittsburgh)

I agree he is probably a little bit over-rated just because he did inherit a very good team that has had a good winning attitude for a long time now.

But then again... Whiz is probably slightly over-rated too just because of the Cardinals success in a short amount of time. Time will tell when we see the careers of these coaches play out.

    *Wade Philips,

But i agree with what you say.. He was given a team 1 year fresh off a SB title.
With the exception of Faneca, Porter, and Haggans.. The team has kept almost every player.

Dick Lebeau remains as the DC.. Despite Tomlin never having run a 3-4 defense. (Didnt do a damn thing)

Cowhers WR coach Bruce Arians was retained.. (Rooneys actually declined Whisenhunt from contacting Arians for a potential job offer with the Cards.) Why'd they retain him? So they can keep the same playbook that was previously ran with Cowher. Again, Didnt do a damn thing on offense either.

Someone said that he was handed something great, and was good enough to mess it up.. Lets reword that a bit, he CANT mess anything up, because he doesn't run a damn thing. If players respect him as a motivator, great. But a great coach? Give me a break.
