I see that Jake has signed a new contract. I'm OK with that . . . if the D-backs learn how to use him properly.

For the past two seasons, Jake has had great first halves at bat. Then sunk into mediocrity for the second half of each season. It has become a trend. The question is why.

Is it fatigue? Is it stress? I believe it is both, one feeding off the other. Due to what? Having to try to be a good fielding 3B.

Why not return the Freight Train to RF and move Lamb to LF for the rest of his career.

Keep his power and RBI ability, especially back in the cleanup spot protecting Goldy. Keep him on the left side of the field, but in a far less active and challenging defensive position, than which he has been disappointing.

Keeping him at 3B would lead only to expectations of third meltdown when we'd need his bat the most.

I hope someone on the D-backs considers it.

It’s a one year deal... he’s got 2018 to prove he can play for more than a half of a season.

There is no indication that he has.

Has Jake ever played a strong defensive 3B? There is no indication that he has. :)

I suggested it to take pressure off Jake when he is at-bat. Something has caused him to wear down the second halves of the past two seasons.

If part of it is stress from his mediocre fielding at 'the hot corner', why not move him to the outfield. It is a lot more lukewarm out there.

We could sure use Jake's left handed power potential all season long.

What if they put him in the outfield and he starts out slow?

Trade for Manny Machado and play him at SS like he wants. Let's see if Lamb turns the corner next season before committing to him at 3B. I think I'd prefer someone who can hit lefties, though.
