    It's spreading too:

It seems the US is backing off of bad foods a bit but we'll see what happens

There's an epidemic of obesity, and an epidemic of starvation. Children being obese is just bad parenting...how can you let an 8 year old weigh 100+ pounds. Did parents forget that they can say NO, or force better eating habits? Or do they want their children to have heart disease from being obese by the time they're 20 years old? Play some sports, eat some veggies...holy smokes...

Obese children seem to be the by product of obese parents. A couple of successive generations of bad nutrition and healthy habits becomes the norm. Someone told me that Florida EBT qualifying is next to automatic for obese ( in excess of 300 # ) applicants. If that is true that is wrong.

This needs to be tied "heavily" (no pun) to any health care reform. Obesity is one of the major factors driving up health care costs. Big corporations selling us soda and cheeseburgers need to pay for health care.

Obese people on EBT is like giving free crack to crack heads...it's just DUMB. These people stuff their carts with soda, processed foods, frozen pizza and whatever else they can kill themselves with. EBT needs to eliminate processed foods from it's selection and only allow these people to buy produce...where they actually have to cook a healthy meal. It's a domino effect...because these people on EBT also have state provided health insurance, and it's just a downward spiral of obesity, health problems, and contributing to the ever-rising cost of healthcare.

I can agree to a point but then the reason fast food and etc take EBT is for the homeless so making it only foods that need cooked could impact them.

Then again, homeless can eat premade sandwiches from the deli, fruits and vegetables without cooking and more sooooo

I'd venture to say more Obese people have EBT than homeless people...and that excuse was made just so the fast food companies can make more money by accepting EBT. Color me skeptical on that one lol

Likely that more obese have it than homeless but either way, it still feeds the homeless.

I have no problem with homeless people having EBT...a lot of them have neurological disorders and really couldn't function in "normal society". Ironic part is hardly any of them are obese since they are outside walking around all the time.

Hence the outside walking around all the time part lol...oh and standing on every corner in the world with cardboard signs. Which leads me to my next point...panhandling has gotten out of control!

    Ban cardboard!

It is beyond out of control and has been for some time. Pretty much everywhere I go, especially by freeways.
