Never ever use petroleum grease. Lithium grease (white grease) can be used on any drive gears on the opener or if it's a chain drive, you can use it on the chain. WD 40 is like a magnet for dirt/sand.
Spray silicone on the rollers and track.. and where the roller shaft goes through the hinges. Hinges in the center of the door get dry also. You likely have torsion springs (3" diameter coil looking thingies) above the door itself. When the door moves the spring coils rub against each other and can squeal like hell sometimes. Use silicon spray... In the trade, we don't call WD40 skunk piss for nothing... lol
If you disconnect the operator from the door you should be able to open it by hand. It should be able to stay in the halfway open position ... If the door shoots up or falls like a stone, you will need to have the springs adjusted... That, my friend is a job for a trained professional, the torsion system is under very high tension,, if you mess with the springs or cables a visit to the emergency room may be necessary to have your fingers sown back on.
I agree with all of this. I used silicone spray but it did not help. My door still "popped" while opening/closing. I called my garage door guy and they wanted $260 for the service call and 2 horizontal trusses installed. I bought the 2 trusses for $38 and installed them myself. My door operates perfectly now.
My dad solution to everything is Wd-40. It’s either duck tape or Wd-40 as solution for him.
A strut (truss) is the solution when the panels get slightly bent over time... the tongue and groove where the panels meet together won't line up and that causes the door to 'pop'
Supposedly there are going to be snow flurries in abq later today.
I driving over for the Giants game. I can't bring myself to drop the cashe to go to a Suns or hockey game. Coyotes are the worst team in the league, Suns are borderline. Cards, Suns and Coyotes in the same week... just.shoot.me
Also, I can't remember where to look, but you guys have mentioned good steak houses... I usually go to Ruth's Chris or Maestros but I'm up for something new...I'm staying near Scottsdale and the 101... any recommendations?
Check out the capital grill.
OK, thanks, I'll do just that.
I got excited for a little bit of rain (non measurable) this morning. We have not had rain or snow in the 88+ days.
Now it is getting windy.
I'm dumping the faux hawk haircut. Growing my hair out. Maybe I'll let it grow all the way to the 'fro I used to have back in the day.
You and LIAC need to have a contest.
Did you try it?
Alas, no. My wife opted for Maestros. Next time, I'll make her go.
