from Steve Keim’s press conference it should be, “stay in your lane.” That is inflexible. It’s one reason I like Mike Patricia, because when you work for Bill Belicheck you learn to stay in your lane. You also learn how to prepare for a game. Looking at Cards’ personnel I think they win with defense and a great run game, so I favor a DC.

I prefer a defensive minded coach, and especially if they can help Keim draft a decent LBer

However, if we get a defense minded HC it will be really important to see who he brings in as his OC. We will have a new qb so the OC will be critical.

a defensive coach,..with a top notch offensive coordinator

either way we go the coach needs to bring in guys he trusts and turn their side over to them

regardless of a coaches history both sides of the ball can succeed... Dungy was defensive but ended up with Peyton

If the hire ends up being a DC then my question is; will the defense remain a 3-4 base or will we see a switch to a 4-3 base?

interesting take by Wolfley ( who i always assume has been given some background info by the decision makers at Cards HQ )

he cites the breakup theory: the human proclivity to go look for the opposite of what you just had

    based on that:

he thinks they go young, detail oriented, first time HC from the defensive side

    suggests Patricia

Hope they go with the best available on either side of the ball. Someone who could bring along a solid special teams coach has to be a factor THIS time.

That does seem to happen often, but then again, most coaches are hired after the previous coach has been fired for being a miserable failure. In the Cards' current situation, i wouldn't necessarily expect that pattern to be in play.

Manning was already there when Dungy got there. The bigger testament to him was winning in Tampa without a QB.

No this defense was again a top 5 defense in the NFL you would have to be stupid to come in and try and overhaul it

QBs win championships. We need an offensive guru who will help mold a young QB.

Tell that to the 2016 SB DEN team. The defense carried the team to victory while Manning put up a dud of a performance. Granted it doesn’t happen often but a dominant defense can make up for a game manager QB.

A DC might be able to get Robert Nkemdiche and Hasson Reddick up to their full potential as well perhaps?

Nothing inflexible about staying in your lane. It's called effective organizational structure. Let the GM do his job. Let the coach do his job.

Can't believe we quoting a lavar ball catchphrase I despise the dude.....I'm for the Bettcher trio or Josh McD. I think everyone is addicted to the McVay success. Usually the young coach always struggles. Knowing our luck that would be the case.
