I cant see how anyone can say that Josh Allen is a top QB prospect

I think he does more with less. If Cousins had Julio Jones & Roddy White to throw to throughout his career, things would be different record-wise. If he had a top 10 RB behind him, things might be different. I don't think Ryan is really capable of inspiring a team.

He just went to the Super Bowl.
Cam Newton was there two years ago. Newton's a year younger than Cousins.

If there was any remote truth to that list... Cousins would have been given a huge contract by the Redskins as of yesterday

Again, different talent levels around them. Washington is neither a highly talented team or a particularly well coached team, especially through the past 3 years.

Cam had the #6 overall defense that provided 39 turnovers that season. Kirk Cousins has never had more than the #17 ranked defense in his years as a starter. Not to mention, Cam takes a bunch of big hits, and that will eventually catch up in injury... whereas Kirk has stayed mostly clean and can play many more years with his style.

Ryan had the #5 overall running game his MVP year. Cousins has never had more than #15.

Regardless, Cousins continues to put up the stats and pass the eye test.

I'm spending a lot of time shilling for the guy this afternoon but the honest truth of it all is that he's been in the top 5-8 of QB categories for the only three years he's been the starter, and with the exception of one amazing year by Ryan, has beaten both guys every year he's been given the starting job in quarterback rating. By the numbers, he's a top 5-8 guy, with lesser talent around him. It's not my fault that the Redskins are making poor choices.

You need an elite quarterback to remain a consistent contender. The only question is whether Cousins in an elite quarterback.
If he's not, don't chase him. If he is, no price is too high.

    Sam Darnolds year
    ...........G....cmp..att..%...yds..............TD..INT...QBR
    SO QB 13 277 435 63.7 3787 8.7 8.7 26 12 151.0

    Lamar Jacksons year
    JR QB 12 241 399 60.4 3489 8.7 9.3 25 6 151.5
    .

so,...your saying we should be able to draft Jackson in the sixth??

because when you look at who they played this season, Darnold faced far greater competition.... Jackson faced powerhouses like Purdue, Kent State, Murry State, wake forest, virginia, and Kentucky.... Darnolds numbers may not be great but he did it after losing guys like JuJu Smith-Schuster at WR and three of his offensive linemen and had to use a slew of freshmen and redshirt freshmen at WR..
many of those int's are the result of young WR's misreading the defense and picking the wrong route..
Jackson won a Heisman...which is a big deal......

But Darnold has won a Rose Bowl and the Archie Griffin award(specific to QB's)

Louisville will play Mississippi State on the 30th and IMO that game will be huge for Lamar Jackson..
    on the flip side...
USC will face Ohio State and that game will be huge for Darnold as well...
Both players will need to play, lead,...and perform an official gut check at some point... winning or losing will not necessarily affect draft status, but how well they play under pressure, maintain their composure, and take charge of their offense can go a long way towards solidifying a guys draft status

In reality, there are really only 2 elite QB's, Brady and Rodgers. Cousins is in the next tier with guys like Rivers, Brees, Ryan, Ben(even though his winning and play making ability makes him arguably the best of the rest), etc.

Saw Allen against Iowa. Was very disappointed in his play.

    dont know about this

Sean McVay was the OC for the three years prior to this one -- that looks to be pretty solid offensive coaching

Cousins has a top 5 LT in Trent Williams. Jordan Reed is a really good TE. Cousins has had DeSean Jackson, jamison Crowder and Pierre Garcon as WRs in the past.

that may not be Atlanta level, but its pretty good

I think it's rather Wentz played at North Dakota St and since Wyoming is not that far away, people want to believe they can catch lightening in a bottle again like the Eagles from a small school in the Far West when all there is in that bottle is stale diet Pepsi

And yet Cousins struggles to get his team into the playoffs in a consistent basis. I'm tired of hearing about guys putting up numbers & yet not elevating a teams play. Sure the 2 go hand in hand at some point but the great ones get the job done. IMO guys like Cousins Rivers struggle in that ability to get a team to pay dirt.

Interesting observation, and I'd agree in general. However, both never had a playoff-worthy defense. You can score for fun, but if your defense isn't at least average, or let's call it opportunistic, you can't go far.

Drew Brees has had the Saints in the playoffs once since 2011. That will probably change this year though.
