Okay, many will disagree and curse me... probably.

But, I like Stoudemire and all, he is Suns franchise and all-star caliber big man.

Hypothetical... or atleast maybe a scenario in the near future.
Hoopsype.com has a exerpt from a "team insider" that Suns will not let them be held hostage by Stoudemire, if he isnt happy in Phoenix.

Anyways, if you HAVE to trade him... what scenarios would you pick.

And be realistic.... Stoudemire for Howard or James etc.. or Chris Paul etc.. are out of the question.

My likely or possible scenarios, and bare with me didnt really account salaries, maybe sign and trade or fillers.

    BOBCATS:
    Emeka Okafor
    Raymond Felton

    NETS:
    Vince Carter
    Brook Lopez

    MAVS:
    Dirk Nowitski

    BULLS:
    Gooden
    Hinrich
    Deng

    HAWKS:
    Horford
    Williams
    filler

    HORNETS:
    West
    Pick(s)

    WARRIORS:
    Wright
    Belinelli
    Jackson
    Pick(s)

    BLAZERS:
    Aldridge
    Fernandez
    filler

    Any others?

The idea is obviously to still be competitive with the current roster, but change focus to Nash and O'Neal. Add a Carter or a Nowitski with that and it sounds enticing, fits the team structure at the moment also.

Knowing also, that in 2 seasons, a HUGE amount of salary space is available. The team can re-structure easily, hence trade scenarios that involve young players (Brook Lopez, Brandon Wright etc) comes handy.

    thoughts?

remember, a hypothetical... and if simply Stoudemire HAD to be traded.

I only know that Hornets and Blazers will win a title in your trades for Amare.

which is a scenario I rather have (if Suns dont win it) than seeing Lakers hoist the trophy again (and their fans get even bigger heads).

Considering Blazers and Hornets are my 2nd and 3rd teams... :)

and losing Aldridge and Fernandez and adding Stoudemire, its kind of balanced.

Maybe add Bayless to that package.

    So they have

    Oden
    Stoudemire
    Outlaw
    Roy
    Blake

Sadly the most realistic deal out of those is the Bulls deal. That really isnt a bad deal conidering if the Suns are going to trade Amare, he likely isnt going to resign with them anyway.

I think the Bulls would definitely take a shot on Amare and bringing him back and that package make a lot of sense for both teams. Hinrich and Deng are locked up long term, and Deng is probably the most talented player you can get back in an Amare trade, because he isnt playing with with Rose and doesnt really fit into their offense anymore.

The Blazers deal would look good, but in reality they dont need to trade for him, when they can just sign him in 2010 and then decide if they want to move Aldridge, while keeping Rudy.

But why do the Suns want anything from Deng and Hinrich? Both are marginal players with bloated contracts worse than Diaw and Barbosa.

A potential happy medium is probably with Hornets,

    Amare/Bell for West/Peja and a pick.

Amare/Paul will be unstoppable against any defense. And Paul is a strong defender himself that the guards won't cause their bigs so much trouble as with the Suns. They will will a championship.

They fit into a halfcourt offense and are complementary players that would at least give the Suns some talent to work with. Amare isnt going to be traded, but that is a realistic trade, I just dont think the Suns move Amare.

That Hornets are a possibility, but both those guys are locked up long term, are good players, and fit into the NO offense. However, should things go sour this seaosn that is a deal that could happen this summer. Amare would be great with Paul, but the Hornets would have to be assured Amare would resign with them.

the portland trade isn't all that bad, actually. we get a legit big man for a legit big man, which is something you have to get back when losing a guy like amare. if oden turns out the be the defensive specialist they hope he will, he and amare could make a very dangerous front court tandom. I just don't know that the blazers would give up fernandez AND aldridge for him. Maybe webster and aldridge would be more reasonable for them.

Of those trades, I like the Cats, Bulls, Hawks, Hornets and Blazer trades. I like the Bulls one a lot. I'd want something more back in the Blazers trade. Generally, all those trades are pretty even and this is a solid trade thread....

From the latest games, we just know it's not about Amare's talent but his motivation, when it comes to performance. So, any team would be think they could motivate him well enough to even want to trade him. But in that case, he'd be worth the best out there. Deng and Hinrich for Amare are just insult for Kerr's intelligence.

Wouldn't a Dirk for Amare swap make a lot of sense? I bet it would really reinvigorate Nash and Dirk. I don't think we'd be in danger of becoming the Mavs of '03 either because we have Shaq, Barnes, and JR.

Edit: Would that team set a record for most MVPs on a team at once?

I was almost ambivalent to the Mavs trade, but what carey says makes sense. Dirk might actually add the right dimension to this team. I can't take much more of Amare's lack of heart and that is one thing you cannot say about Dirk....

Amare for Dirk? Where do I sign up?

Some people here seem to think Dirk is soft, overrated, or washed up. But he's averaging 26/9 this year. Nash and Dirk back together would be awesome. He would fit perfectly. Shaq clogging the lane wouldn't be a problem with Dirks outside game.

    Nash
    Richardson
    Barnes
    Nowitzki
    Shaq

    Barbosa
    Hill
    Dudley
    Amundson
    Lopez

That is a ridiculous starting lineup, and a serviceable bench.

Yeah, you are dead on with that line up. Now I am firmly in support of that trade....

Dirk wont look good in our orange jerseys, and very awkward in purple. I pass.

Mavs need a shake up I thought, thats why I proposed the trade.

Stoudemire, offensive wise, we all know is unstoppable, but the lack of "heart" as some stated really does prevent him from becomming elite. On defense, skills play a smaller factor to determination and effort, and we've all watched Stoudemire grab rebounds or box out or even play defense with a half heart approach.

    The suns with;

    C: O'Neal
    PF: Nowitski
    SF: Barnes
    SG: Richardson
    PG: Nash

is incredible, because you basically have O'Neal playing 1 on 1 with the other team's center with little to no help defense. O'Neal can find any of those 4 and its either a 3 point shot or a mid range 2.

Sure Suns lose Stoudemire's inside scoring, but with that much space and lack of double teaming.... O'Neal will get his way... at the very least he'll get 15 possessions within 5 feet and 1 defender on him.....

Rebounding wise, Dirk is better than Stoudemire, unfortunately... beause Dirk puts more effort. The ability to put down the ball and shoot the 3 just fits the bill better.

    I'd do that trade...
