Hmmm, I would rather not have housekeeping enter my hotel room when I ask them not too.

Walt Disney World has swapped "Do Not Disturb" signs with "Room Occupied" signs at a handful of its hotels in Orlando, Florida, according to a company spokeswoman. Disney is also allowing housekeeping and maintenance staff to enter the rooms on a daily basis. They will knock and announce their presence before entering, according to the company.

"The Disney Resort hotel and its staff reserve the right to enter your room, even when this sign is displayed, for maintenance, safety, security or any other purpose," read the new signs.

Hilton Hotels and Resorts also changed its policy in November 2017. The hotel chain said the new policy recommends that staffers alert a security or duty manager after 24 hours of consecutive Do Not Disturb sign usage.

I would imagine not much is going to change and that this is mostly for guests to know that the little piece of plastic isn't a magical way to keep everyone out of the room no matter what you are doing. I would imagine this is the work of some attorney.

"Well Your Honor the point isn't that my client was in possession of a mountain of blow while raping that a minor. He had CLEARLY put the 'Do Not Disturb Sign' on the door so nobody had a right to enter the room and catch him."

I think it's more likely in response to Mandalay Bay & that other dude that was caught.

Which is ironic considering the article also says:

He reportedly put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on his door, though housekeepers visited the suite and didn't see anything amiss.

They basically felt that these kind of security changes were likely in response to the Vegas shooting, but also made a point to say that housekeepers had been in the shooter's suite - despite his display of a "Do Not Disturb" sign evidently - and none had noticed anything peculiar enough to mention.
