There was a time we would get 2 out hits.

Not the way this team is playing right now or he would be.

Goldy definitely won't win it if the d'backs choke their way out of the postseason. They'll probably give it to Zimmerman.

Sad to say, but I doubt it.

Hard to get too upset with this team since I never thought we'd be in this position this season in the first place... Yet, to be here and watch them cough it all up is still painful nonetheless. The reality is, as we all know if we're being honest with ourselves, is that this team was never good enough. Our pitching was always substandard and our offense was always marginal at best.
There have been a few nice surprises/stories such as Godley and Greinke. Robbie Ray has been nice and has shown he belongs, if only as an inconsistent #3 at best... Archie and Rodney have been fantastic as well.
But Walker was always a gamble... Corbin has never been reliable at any point in his career. And our relievers not named Bradley or Rodney, even with a healthy Delgado, were always a crap-shoot at best.
At the plate, aside from Goldy who is having a MVP type season, Lamb has been a nice story - even with his second consecutive post All-Star collapse. The entire rest of the lineup had never proven a thing in the bigs, other than their collective ability to be consistently inconsistent and extremely non-clutch (as measured by hitting with men on base).
JD Martinez was a very respectable mid-season addition, but he's soon gone and we'll be left with a fat, slow, unathletic and overpaid Tomas... along with Pollock and Peralta, both of whom are also frustratingly inconsistent. Marte looks like a kid we should be excited to see develop. But both Drury and Owings are each inconsistent and have never shown the ability to play quality defense.
At catcher, Iannetta has been fun to watch, even with his measly .228 average... And Mathis & Hermann are no better.
So, it's been a very unexpected gift to still be in a playoff position on August 11th. So we should simply be thankful for the ride, even though the ride is coming to a painful screeching halt... It will be the Rockies and one of the Cardinals, Brewers or Pirates who will take the two Wild Card slots when it's all said and done. Our team is overmatched, undermanned and just not good enough... Hopefully, Hazen and Co. will find a way to make a few key moves in the offseason that will then propel this team into a position where they can be a more consistent post season threat.
So let's enjoy Goldy's MVP quest. Let's embrace the gritty story of Zack Godley. And in the now rare moments when we enter the 8th inning with a lead, let's enjoy the Archie and Rodney show!
Let's root for the continued development of Marte and the now occasional Lamb Slam!
But let's also realize that our season will end after the 162nd game is played... we'll live...

I am out of town for 5 weeks. Cannot watch the games, or decided just to go off the grid for a while. It is interesting reading all your posts after the games. I am seeing it from a different perspective, if you know what I mean. I see see the DBacks turning it around before the end of the season and then who knows. I may just hover for a while. The negativity is bringing me down. I don't like it. We need positive energy. Enjoy.

Lovullo on Walker-100 pitches going out 6th- wanted him to get through 6, bullpen was a little thin and felt Walker has stuff to handle LHH

I still say we make the playoffs. 6th best record in baseball as it stands today. Get past these 10 game and play it out. 21 out of are last 35 are sub 500 teams. TL and his must try to pitch 7 innings BS has gave up 5 games minimum IMO.
