I have never heard of him until today. What's the story with ASU?

Was the big new hyped AD at ASU after they canned Lisa Love. He had all these big plans including the total revamp of the stadium.

He left like 1 year later. Texas tech offered him the same job with them. It wasnt even a promotion.

He went to Texas. A promotion.

Thats not a promotion. Same job. Its not like ASU is Florida Atlantic. We are a major Pac 12 program. Texas has not been relevant since Vince Young played there.

No excuses. He left us to dry. Karma buried him in Texas.

Texas is Patterson's alma mater. Guys rarely turn down their alma mater. His tenure at Texas is far more concerning than his tenure at ASU, but prior to that he was involved building the Houston Texans franchise from the ground up. The upshot is that it's possible he's significantly better suited to professional sports than college booster culture, but the UT debacle is impossible to ignore.

Texas is absolutely a promotion over ASU. It's not even debatable. And I'm an ASU football fan.
