Another St Louis guy connecting with my roots

    I was there from Jan 86- April 88. Celebrated my 21st Birthday at the Bird n Hand pub outside Mildenhall. Was a great assignment.

    Never got to England. Was stationed in Ankara Turkey. Traveled through Germany a lot, and spent four years in the Philippines. Lots of time in Japan and Korea too. I guess my TDY of my career was a weekend TDY to Thule Greenland as part of a tanker recovery team. The place looked like another planet. Saw things I thought I would never see in my life there.

    I went TDY 2 months to Iceland, pretty cool experience

    Thule is now a year long "special duty" assignment.. you then get a base of preference aferwards

    Our friends were in Iceland and loved it. As for Thule, not sure how six months of night time would work for me. I was there in July. lol Still 17 degrees.
