If we are going to go with a college arm I am hoping that it is Pomeranz. The only question is how much over slot would it take for him to sign. I know they want to stay near slot which is why Loux has been mentioned. While I am still hoping for Whitson I would imagine it is now between Pomeranz, Sale, and Loux. Only a few more hours until we find out.

Draft starts at 4. Right now on MLB network they are doing a preview and they said that Deck McGuire is almost MLB ready but he will be nothing better than a #4 or 5 starter in his career. Ouch.

It sounds like we are going to take Barret Loux with our first pick. He has been rising on draft boards recently but does seem like a reach.

I'm not a fan of the pick but I am now a fan of Loux. Hope he can get to the majors and pitch well. My hope is we went cheap on the first round because there weren't many great players outside of the top 3 and try to draft a couple of guys in the later rounds who fall because of signability, i.e. Matt Helm and Patrick Schuster last year.

We should have traded AJ Hinch to the nationals for the number 1 pick.

Chris Sale and Karsten Whitson were both more talented pitchers with better stuff than Loux. I would even go further to say that Harvey is a better prospect. The Diamondbacks organization dropped the ball on this one. When the pick was made John Hart on MLB network said, "'IF he develops a breaking ball he could be a solid starter''. He has two pitches which are both are average and is projected as a fourth or fifth starter. That is not what I want from the sixth overall pick. The only reason this pick was made was to save money.

It will be interesting to see how far those two drop.

Apparently not far. Harvey and Whitson both already picked and Sale will come off the board soon. I will be interested to see how much they sign for compared to Loux.

Allison and his staff do not have a clue. I have said this every year since Allison replaced Rizzo. They have yet to have a decent draft under Allison. Rizzo was the man and brought in significant talent when he was with the organization. In my opinion, Allison has not! Hopefully, if they are reviewing all levels of the organization, they will focus on Allison's position and see that a change needs to be made.
