lam·baste (lm-bst)
tr.v. lam·bast·ed, lam·bast·ing, lam·bastes Informal
1. To give a thrashing to; beat. See Synonyms at beat.
Yup, that sums it up. I hope I never have to witness that again. A 119-98 thumping.
How do you possibly let things get so out of control that you are down 30+ to the L.A. Lakers in your season home opener?
While the San Antonio Spurs have come out of the gates 2-0 and played exactly how everything knows they can, the Suns are lucky to have a win under their belts.
Someone ought to wake up them and alert Mike D’Antoni that preseason is over
To make matters worse, the Atlanta Hawks beat the Dallas Mavericks and are 1-0. So whatever the deal is with their draft pick next year, the more they win, the less good it becomes for us.
I honestly don’t know what to make of this game. Yes, the Suns have started off bad before, and not that long ago. I think last year maybe or the year before. I’m too annoyed by this loss to even look it up.
But this essentially is the same group of guys last year and they’ll come out of it. They are just out of sync and playing at maybe 80% intensity. The defense was absolutely horrific and the shooting showed a lack of focus.
Brian Skinner was the only bright spot I thought just because he actually blocked some shots, something Amare Stoudemire could learn anytime now. Maybe some low post defense that’s actually effective?
I believe I counted 3-4 times that Amare posted up in this game. Granted, the Suns love to shoot from the outside, but please give the ball to your low post guy. Get him to the foul line, make the other team work.
I could go on, but I believe I’m in the wrong frame of mind to be objective. The Suns will be fine, they’ll start winning and likely blow-out the Lakers in their next meeting.
But right now, this loss sucks.
