Why The Cubs Deserved to Lose

Date October 7, 2007 by Chris Hall

Some sicko skinned a goat and hung it from the Harry Caray Statue at Wrigley.  Cubs fans were outraged…that it didn’t reverse the curse.  Any doubt that class has left the “friendly confines” is all but gone.  Even the toolbag Jay Mariotti was more disgusted that this heinous act didn’t help the “beloved” Cubbies.  The video is on YouTube, but I refuse to go looking for it.

Just because $300 million can’t buy a clutch hit and/or pitch, an innocent animal has to die?  I guess we should be thankful they killer didn’t go after Bartman, huh?

The D-Backs outplayed the listless Cubs in every facet of the game.  Even so, Ryan Theriot won’t admit he lost to a superior team.  Let’s see…

The D-Backs had the best record in the league, within the best divsion in the league, yet they were the inferior team?  Way to buy into that east coast bias, Theriot!  Chump.

I used to love the Cubs.  Now I pity them.  For a city that used to loveably embrace losing, Chicago Sports has lost its charm.  Desperation is never flattering, yet the residents at Wrigley have embraced it.  It is a sad day for sports.  One day, when the D-Backs begin the rebuilding process anew, the Cubs have my permission to win a World Series.  Unfortunately, each year the team makes bad front office decisions that takes them back a step from their ultimate goal.  Let’s tie up Josh Byrnes before Chi-town fires Hendry, okay?

Maybe next year?  I doubt it.  The new Cubs owners, whoever they are, will want a better bang for their bucks.  Look for the rebuilding process to begin.

As for the D-Backs, they can now look ahead to the dangerous Rockies.  The Rockies have only lost one game in the last million years.  Of course, that game came against the D-Backs.  Would we have won the last series of the season if we needed another win to clinch the Division?  Maybe.  For now, all we can hope is that our decision to rest Doug Davis on the season’s last day won’t come back to haunt us.

Go D-Backs!

I didn’t know someone did that to a goat. That’s just dispicable and the fact that Jay’s only concern was that it didn’t reverse the curse. I was at game two and there were some good Cubs fans next to me. They took it humbly.

I almost had plans to go to Chicago last weekend, but changed them to next weekend because airfare was cheaper. I wish I was there. I would have paid the price to go to game 3 in full Sedona red gear just to rub it in. I will still rub it in next weekend and will have a D-Backs hat on and a Fitzgerald jersey on Sunday when they play the Skins.
