Tim Rattay signs with the Arizona Cardinals

I guess if you don’t make the trip nor want to move to Phoenix, the chances of playing for the Arizona Cardinals become pretty low. Vinny Testaverde didn’t come to Phoenix to try out for the backup quarterback job AZCentral reports. He was unsure about moving far from his Long Island home apparently.

Tim Rattay did come to the facility and threw around for about 15 minutes. Darren Urban reported in his daily blog that the Cardinals signed him today.

Meanwhile, in pretty devastating news for Matt Leinart, the team placed him on injured reserve, ending his season.

Urban reports that Arizona also signed Keydrick Vincent, the offensive lineman they were looking at yesterday.

Rattay was cut by Tennessee this season after training camp and spent much of his time here helping his father coach Phoenix Christian, which happened to be my main rival in high school (I attended Valley Christian). Throwing to the kids during practice helped him stay in shape says Urban.

Good choice. He’s severely underrated from what I’ve read. He’s just been on very bad teams and not given a proper shot. It’s a good option, but let’s all hope that Warner stays healthy and Sendlein doesn’t play guard anymore. Wasn’t he there and completely missed the block that led to Matt’s injury? I recall two coming in from LG spot and Edge blocked one. Sendlein blocked down on the NT I think. Sorry, I was drinking and my memory is a little fuzzy to begin with.
