Phoenix Suns beat Sacramento

Date October 12, 2007 by Mike Olbinski

Phoenix Suns Grant Hill against SacramentoThe Phoenix Suns opened the 2007-08 season with an exhibition game in Sacramento.

The first quarter score: 29-18

What did you expect? They are already running and it’s early in October. I can already feel the excitement building inside of me for NBA season. Probably doesn’t help that the Diamondbacks lost Game 1 and cast a shadow over our World Series chances, but still.

Shawn Marion scored 18 and grabbed 12 boards in 27 minutes, while Grant Hill (pictured) made his debut felt adding 17 points and 8 rebounds in only 23 minutes.

Typical Steve Nash scored only three points, but handed out 11 assists. Boris Diaw led the time played with 36 minutes and gathered in a normal Diaw line: 10 points, six assists and four rebounds.

Phoenix Suns D.J. Strawberry against SacramentoThe rookies put in some times as well, D.J. Stawberry (pictured left) played 17 minutes and was 3-6 from the floor for seven points and did hit on one three point try. Alando Tucker only manages to be in the game for 12 minutes and made two free throws.

The Associated Press recap points out that Marion looked as motivated as ever. I wonder if he’s just pumped for the season to start, or perhaps he’s showcasing himself?

Either way, I’ll take it. Suns win 110-99 over the Kings.

Thanks for taking my mind off last nights D-backs game…ugh.

But a good start for the Suns. Glad to see Grant Hill coming out of the gate strong. If he stays healthy, he could be a huge factor for our Suns.

And good to see my fellow Terp DJ Strawberry getting his game on. Kinda has me excited for the start of the regular season.

Yeah, there is always something fun about young talent, rookies, etc., playing well…I hope Strawberry pans out for Phoenix.
