FSN Arizona television happenings
October 17, 2007 by Mike Olbinski
I cannot wait until most of FSN AZ’s broadcasts are in high-definition someday, or when Direct TV actually makes it available to us subscribers. As high-def grows, more and more sporting events will be captured in this awesome new media and we’ll all benefit from the clarity and vibrant new picture.
Regardless of my infatuation with HD, there are a few FSN AZ broadcasts of note coming up this week and later in the month.
From FSNAZ:
Phoenix Suns preview show
The Phoenix Suns are back for more and FSN Arizona is set to get fans ready for another run at the NBA title. Tonight at 7 & 10 p.m., the network debuts Phoenix Suns Preview, a half-hour show hosted by Brad Steinke that will have a comprehensive look ahead to the upcoming season. Steinke has an extensive sit-down interview with Grant Hill to talk about why he came to Phoenix, Tom Chambers gives his take on the season ahead and there is also a preview of the NBA Western Conference title contenders.
ARIZONA/STANFORD FOOTBALL THIS SATURDAY FROM ARIZONA STADIUM
FSN Arizona will televise Saturday’s Arizona/Stanford football game from Tucson and the coverage gets started at 3:30 p.m. with the Qwest Wildcats Live pre-game show from Arizona Stadium. Host Kevin McCabe will be joined by analyst Dale Hellestrae during both the pre and post-game shows. Dave Sitton has the call of the game along with Hellestrae and kickoff is set for 4 p.m. FSN Arizona’s other live college football game on Saturday is Oklahoma at Iowa State and it begins at 9:30 a.m. On Saturday night, FSN Arizona airs the Idaho at New Mexico State game via a tape delay at 8 p.m.
HUGE GAME ON THE HORIZON
On Saturday, Oct. 27, FSN Arizona will televise one of the most highly anticipated ASU football games in quite some time when the Sun Devils host the California Golden Bears. Kick-off from Sun Devil Stadium is set for 7 p.m. and the national telecast will be available in High Definition.
SUN DEVIL REWIND & WILDCAT REWIND
FSN Arizona offers its popular Sun Devil Rewind and Wildcat Rewind football shows throughout the college football season. They condense the team’s previous game into a half-hour review with exclusive field level camera angles and sideline/locker room access while using the radio calls from both team’s broadcast booths. The shows typically air on Tuesday nights – 6:30 & 9:30 p.m. for Wildcat Rewind and 7 & 10 p.m. for Sun Devil Rewind. The shows that reviews last Saturday’s games re-air on Friday afternoon – Arizona/USC at 12:30 p.m. and Arizona State/Washington is at 1 p.m.
QWEST CARDINALS LIVE – SUNDAY NIGHT
FSN Arizona continues with its in-depth coverage of the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday at 9:30 p.m. when the network’s weekly Qwest Cardinals Live show provides all the post-game news, interviews, highlights and analysis from the game in Washington. Jody Jackson and Glenn Parker host the show from the Fox Sports Grill in Scottsdale, while kicker/reporter Neil Rackers files a post-game report and Paul Calvisi has interviews from the locker room. This 30-minute program airs every Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. during the regular season.
