The Suns sign Brian Skinner

Date September 24, 2007 by Mike Olbinski

Brian SkinnerThe Suns have their man. Their big man.

The Phoenix Suns agreed to terms with Brian Skinner, AZCentral.com is reporting, with a salary of $1.1 million. Of all the big men the Suns looked at, Brian brought them the most speed for a rebounding, defensive specialist. He will share time with Sean Marks, the other giant under the basket for Phoenix.

A 6-9 center, he’s not especially offensively skilled and his 56% free throw shooting is almost Ben Wallace territory. The lack of a shot will make the loss of Kurt Thomas even more evident, since that outside ability really made him valuable.

What do you think? Good signing or just a necessary one?
