Where Was I?

Date August 26, 2007 by Adam Green

I went to the Dbacks/Cubs game Friday night and although I was it was an air-conditioned environment, I could have sworn I was back at Sun Devil Stadium for a Cardinals game. The home town fans had a tough time battling the visiting crowd, almost as tough a time as the home team had with the visiting club. It was frustrating. Even leaving the ballpark I had to endure the trash talk of a self-righteous Cubs fan. So, having said that, I thought of a few ways that we can shut the Cubs fans up and take back our stadium.

1. Every time the “Let’s Go Cubbies!” chant starts up, fire back with “F%*# the Cubbies!” Sure, it may not be appropriate for the kids, but it worked in college and it should work here. Other acceptable chants would be “Where is Prior?!” and “We love Bartman!” How fun would that be?

2. Point to the World Championship sign. ‘Nuff said.

3. Carefully remind them that beating the Diamondbacks is not akin to winning the World Series, no matter how much they believe it is.

4. Point to the pool and ask if they themselves will float or if they will sink.

5. Remind them that a “cubbie” is something that we put our shoes in when we were six.

6. Start yelling “The Cubs are who we thought they were!,” and see what happens.

I hope this helps a little bit, but what would really help is the team taking Sunday’s game along with the series.

Haha, those were some nice suggestions. I hate it when the other team’s fans are louder than our own. It’s embarrassing, but our guys, both the fans and players, pulled it out in the end. :)

Time to play the Pads!
