Coming back down to Earth

Paula Boivin said it best this morning.
“If you feel like you’re nursing a hangover today without ever enjoying the party, you’re not alone.”
That’s how I feel. Probably many of you do as well. After a week of euphoria at the supposedly true rumors about Kevin Garnet coming to Phoenix, about trading up to the 8th spot for a shot at a great young talent…nothing happened.
Heck, if nothing happened, we still had the solace of two first round picks and then a third. But no, we sold the 24th selection for 3 million dollars.
So after all the hype and rumors and KG-mania, we ended up with two pretty low picks, who knows how they’ll pan out in training camp. I do know one of them is a Maryland Terp, which makes a buddy of mine very happy, so there is that.
But overall, what a letdown. And it’s not the Suns’ fault really, they likely weren’t responsible for the frenzy of lies being shown on ESPN.com every few hours.
Yet it still feels like we were let down. Dreams of Garnett have vanished like we just woke up from a long night’s sleep.
I guess we can be content in the fact that we were THIS close to winning it all this past year and we’re still VERY, VERY good.
Somehow it’s not enough, and it seems like this is just another thing us Suns fans will haver to get over in the following days.

I know many don’t agree with me, but I’m thrilled.
The last time we were this close, Colangelo broke up the pieces too soon. He tinkered too much.
Hang in there, Mike.
