Paula Boivin said it best this morning.
“If you feel like you’re nursing a hangover today without ever enjoying the party, you’re not alone.”
That’s how I feel. Probably many of you do as well. After a week of euphoria at the supposedly true rumors about Kevin Garnet coming to Phoenix, about trading up to the 8th spot for a shot at a great young talent…nothing happened.

If the reports are true, and that is a big IF considering how things have changed every few hours this week, but if they are true, the Suns acquiring Kevin Garnett hinges on Shawn Marion.
Jim Gray reports that Garnett would be traded here, and Marion to the Celtics and Boston gives some players and their 5th pick.
The only way the deal works for everyone is if Shawn accepted an extension from the Celtics in order for them to keep him in Boston for a long time. Otherwise, he can just opt out next year and leave them with nothing.

If there was anything to make us poor Suns fans forget about the playoffs, this week was it.
Marc Stein is reporting today that Kevin Garnett nixed a deal that would have sent him to Boston. The report went on to say he wants to play for the…
PHOENIX SUNS
That’s right. Apparently he and our little Stevie Nash are best buds since 2005 and The Big Ticket wants to cash his in for a one-way to the Valley of the Suns.

I love the internet.
Some guy who has supposedly been right on something before has some contacts that say Kevin Garnett and his agent have been talking to the Suns very seriously the last few nights.
There are reports of a 3-team trade going down involving Amare and Garnett and Boston maybe.
Who knows if it’s true or […]

One of the most creative aspects in play for the Arizona Cardinals this year will be the variety of defensive strategies the team will throw at their opponents. There will be considerable mixing and matching of alignments and personnel from week to week…the schemes will be innovative and imaginative. Defensive coordinator, Clancy Pendergast, will be playing his Cards fast and furiously, and, as we will see, he will enter each game with several aces and trump Cards up his sleeve.

There is a favorite saying on the messageboards.
“Bring ‘em in, can’t hurt!”
It’s usually followed up by an image:

Grant Hill is interesting in the Suns. He even said he’d rather play for us than the Spurs. Well Hallelujah, what are we waiting for?
The guy played in 68 games last year, shot 50% from the floor and averaged 15.5 ppg. He’s also likely willing to take the minimum to play here.

See that? I combined how I feel about the NBA Finals with Shawn Marion. That’s mad writing skillz right there.
So yeah, 3-0 Spurs, and the last final score was 75-72. Are you kidding me? That’s like a Phoenix Mercury versus Houston Comets total. Who could possibly watch that ugly of basketball?
I feel bad for the Spurs, because they are a great team. And I mean that. Great. The number of titles they’ve won in the past five years is proof. They are one of the best teams in a long time.

Just as LeBron back excitement back to my NBA life again, the Spurs sucked it right back out this weekend.
The Finals are boring, boring, booooooring.
For a brief moment last night, the Cavs cut a 29 point lead to 8. That was over about 4 minutes and had been the most excitement in two games.
It’s not the Spurs fault that they are so good and that the Cavs just are no match. But may as well blame them anyways.

Okay, lets face it. Power Rankings are opinions, inevitably biased. No one believes them, but everybody checks them out. The criteria for rankings in the off-season are vague, even silly, at best.
My forte.
So being tired of waiting to see my team at the top, I decided not to get mad, but to get even. Here it is, the Official ASFN Power Rankings. And if your team is lower than you expected – good.
Of course there will be complaints – and we encourage you to voice your concerns. Send them all to Dr. Z, care of CNN SI. He’s great at dealing with that sort of stuff.

Here is a look at the Cardinal players who will, through the course of time, rise to the top of the depth charts in 2007. Ken Whisenhunt has stressed competition, and as a new head coach presented with the formidible task of turning a perennial loser into a winner, has committed himself to finding the players who will give his team the best chance to win. When the dust settles, here are the birds who will soar to new heights.
