The Suns get a new GM
May 31, 2007 by Mike Olbinski
Mike D’Antoni should now be able to focus entirely on coaching next year as the Suns announced that Steve Kerr will be their new General Manager.
The only thing Steve Kerr has done since his playing days is be a color commentator for NBA games. All I know about him is that he played for UofA (and I’m an ASU fan) and then played for the Spurs among a few other teams.
Actually, he did play for the Suns for 26 games back in 1988-89. Now I know that.
I realize it’s ridiculous, because everything I’ve seen of the guy points towards decency. But it feels like he’s the enemy. We didn’t like him announcing the Suns games against the Spurs because we felt it would be slanted. Not as much as Bill Walton, but still.
And now he’s running the show here.
I don’t think anyone had any real idea how good he will be. But filling Bryan Colangelo’s shoes will be a hefty task. Good luck Stevie.
What do you guys think of the hiring? Good, bad?
