Black Wednesday

Date May 16, 2007 by Mike Olbinski

So I’ve had a chance to sleep, get some rest and try to come to terms with the league’s decision yesterday to suspend Amare and Boris.

You know what? I’m still off the wall upset. It’s depressing. Even Lost being on tonight can’t cheer me up.

I just keep going over it in my head. Baron Davis knocks Derek Fisher to the ground, nothing happens. Bruce Bowen introduces Steve Nash’s groin area to his knee, and nothing happens.

Two Suns players take a short walk towards a non-fight, and they are screwed.

Where is the justice? The Spurs have been killing the Suns with hard fouls, dirty plays, cheap shots, and nothing has happened to them. If you are going to suspend our guys, the should be suspending Tim Duncan for coming onto the floor during a 2nd quarter potential scuffle between James Jones and Elson whatever his first name is.

No, Stu said there was no altercation there. But there was a potential for one wasn’t there? And Duncan had already come four feet onto the floor just in case. Wouldn’t that have caused problems had Jones and Elson got into it?

If you are going to follow the letter of your ridiculous law, it should be enforced for everyone.

It’s just unfair, cheap and lame. The NBA has taken over this series and now if the Suns lot, the outcome will forever be in question because of what they did. It’s like a referee determining an outcome of a game by calling a lame foul with a second left on the clock.

Way to go NBA. Way to not tarnish your image. This is why people can’t stand the NBA. Completely frakked up decisions.

Today sucks. The only thing that will make it better is if the Suns win tonight.

This illustrates that David Stern has too much power, hopefully the owners will restructure how decisions such as his can be made, so its not up to 1 person. I would like to see a change even if the situation were reversed. I am seriously considering giving up my season tickets (in the family over 30 years) until a change is made. I have a hard time supporting the nba any longer, something I have done for over 35 years.

30 years is a long time…I agree with you though, it’s hard to handle.
